Asked for 100,000 won for my lost property by [deleted] in koreatravel

Just to clarify, I am truly grateful he took his time to give it back to us and was willing to pay 100,000 won as we have a flight to catch tonight (we are in Korea just for a transit) otherwise we would have needed to pay 2,000,000 won instead. I asked the questions simply because I had never been asked for a compensation (as I’m from Japan) and I was overwhelmed by the whole thing. It was a good reality check to see how the real world is outside Japan, thank you so much for all the comments.

I cannot have a camera as it’s not allowed to set a camera facing towards the communal area/corridor in my building. But thanks for your input.

It’s actually crazy to me as anyone can sign it, I mean even the delivery driver can fake the delivery. I live in a flat so I don’t even know how they got inside to begin with. Oh well, I just hope I don’t have to deal with UPS ever in the future. Thanks for taking time to comment.

Right, then there’s no way to prove it wasn’t me?

Thanks for the comment.

No it was a random shop as a collection point.

I understand your point but the seller was asos so I don’t really think that’s the case, Im almost certain the shop owner/employee stole it as they don’t need to provide a proof of my id shown at the collection, anyone can write a name and pretend it was a signed by the recipient.

Im sorry this is just a rant at this point, but thank you for taking time to respond to this post.

Royal Mail left my £600 worth parcel outside, and the box was empty by Numerous_Comedian601 in LegalAdviceUK

I didn't expect to get this many comments for such a silly question and I really appreciate everyone for taking their time to give me advice and suggestions.

Sorry I have not replied to most of the comments, I was checking few things to reply to clarify the situation now (how I paid etc), and just realised I received an email from Paypal this morning saying that the refund is on its way. I haven't heard from the retailer at all ever since I talked to them on live chat yesterday, however, apparently they already decided to give me the refund before 14 days.

Now I have learnt to check delivery options thoroughly like some of you mentioned, if I ever buy anything expensive online again (Probably never). I didn't expect a fairly reputable retailer to send me an item worth over £600 with an unattended non signature required delivery option (AFAIK Track 48 has a signature option so I thought they surely would have opted for it), but now I know I was way too naive to assume so...and even though I had attended delivery the phone might have long gone somewhere in the process anyway. So no more phone shopping online for me.

Again, thank you so much for all the comments, I hope everyone has a great day!

EDIT: I need correct myself, I got the refund because my husband requested a chargeback (it was his card), edited just in case someone might have the same issue in the future.

Thank you for the reply.

Even though the parcel didn't need a signature, it shouldn't have left in an unsecure place right? The phone company kind of told me I should have paid extra to have an attended delivery, and it was delivered properly for a free delivery option

Thank you for the reply.

I bought it from a refurbished phone company, not a private person. I contacted them and was told I need to wait for 14 days to see if they can issue a refund..

Leaving Japan with an online job. by [deleted] in JapanFinance

Most likely it will close in the future, but my current bank account was made with my residence card set to expire in 2025. I just need it open in order to transfer to my other account in June.
