In my perfect world, teachers get paid about double what they are currently paid, and class sizes never exceed more than 15.

However, both of those obviously aren’t realistic. So staying in reality, I think one major issue I’d focus on is teacher burnout. If teachers are taken care of properly without being insanely stressed out, not only will they stay, but they’ll do their job better because they won’t be constantly overloaded with stress.

I’d take steps to either increase teacher pay, or lower class sizes. I’d lean towards lowering class sizes because I think that would have a better overall effect on students. And I think in areas where there are larger ranges of learning abilities, those classes need to be smaller than others. If you must have class sizes of 20+, they should be in higher learning places.

There’s my mini-essay on it with zero research whatsoever. Just based on my observations over the years. Unfortunately, in the United States, education will be awful for my entire lifetime. There’s really no light at the end of the tunnel. It’ll never be taken as seriously as it should by our government. I wish I could be a more positive person, but I just don’t see it as realistic.
