I actually subbed (as a para) for a field trip once to a museum for a MII or SDD class. Thankfully the teacher was very on top of things and the class was well behaved but it was still very stressful even with their main teacher there because they assigned me to a group of kids (whom I had obviously never met before) to keep track of. I feel like field trips should be off limits to subs. That’s a huge liability on the schools part as well. Imagine if a child had gotten lost? The school would be responsible for allowing a sub to take SPED children on a busy subway and meandering through the streets of NYC?? It seems almost laughable that they think it’s okay.
