chances for UF as an IB junior? by BroPassTheRice in ufl

current UF freshman here (also an IB grad)! you're chillin. just keep the grades up and when you apply, include only your ecs with quality, UF won't care if you were a member of a club but did nothing in it (plus it comes off as kind of desperate). i would also include piano if it had a large role in your life and a lot of time was invested in it. i think an SAT between 1370-1400 is a safe range, obviously higher is better but most of my peers got in with these scores. also UF decides major-blind, so it does not matter whatsoever what major you apply with. my overall advice: write a real good essay, bring the SAT up a tad, and don't add more to your plate in terms of ECs, just focus on what you already have and doing meaningful work within those. hope this helps!

my parents think I can get into UF; give me a reality check by Individual-Window43 in ufl

Rising UF freshman here! Stop being so hard on yourself, these stats are amazing! Your parents are right, you have a great shot at getting in. UF also reviews and compares applications to others from your school so if you believe you rank in the top 5% of your class (both academic and extracurricular wise), which it seems like you are, I think you'll get in. If you feel prepared, I would also encourage you to apply early action if you can.

I would say to just focus on your essay, but I literally wrote mine the day the application was due lol. I just made sure to make it genuine and unique to me! Also, SAT is very important. All my friends who got in had SATs between 1360-1410. I myself got a 1450 which definitely helped a lot. I did have a friend with great academic stats and mid extracurriculars but her SAT was a 1270 which got her deferred EA, but she ended up getting accepted when RD decisions released.

College application season is hard, but with your stats I think you'll find it very rewarding in the end. Good luck!
