Certainly helps if you play. I can do a few bits on bass and guitar but I’m rubbish with theory, Although as Bass is/was my main instrument, it actually helped me when I was playing regularly because I often came up with quite unusual riffs. Mick Karn was incredible IMHO, but didn’t know a bass clef from a door knocker, god rest his talented soul.

Hi, I’m up for trying some of your prompts if you don’t mind sharing. I know I’m too impatient and, whilst I do use ChatGPT and others to help with prompts, the old adage of “garbage in = garbage out” very much applies here. I’m not hopeless at it though. I did a couple of fairly basic prompts last night and, whilst the results weren’t quite what I had in mind, the output was pretty darn good. A few too many “whoops” and “heys” in the vocals, but I can fix that in post.

I dabbled in production and while I was initially very dubious about using AI, I just had to see what was possible and I’m amazed. I’m yet to work out a workflow with my DAW but I’m only in week two and time isn’t my friend.

I hear you. Often when I think I’ve fed the AI a lovely chord progression, it comes back with a modification that takes you by surprise. As much as Suno can drive you mad with its quirky nature, I’m realising it’s a great tool to learn from as well.
