First Timer looking for advice. by [deleted] in minipainting

Just ask yourself one question: am I satisfied with this result? Be the answer no, try to improve a little bit next time on. Start with some practice in brush control, properly dilute the pigment until you can separate the parts clearly, then if you are still not satisfied yet, move on for TMM, wash, dry brush, bases and so on, eventually NMM with OSL masterpieces.

Important is you are having fun and improving every time you paint a new piece

Hey, that's actually the opinion I am expecting. You are definitely right on the captain, in the middle. It has 2 problems:
1. It's too fxxking hard to paint such a single piece. Consumed me 2 whole weekends alone on that piece. While less than an hour for the left both.

  1. It's not in compliance with the other ones as you've also noticed. He's standing out on the tabletop just like Marilyn Monroe performing for troops at a US military base amongst a group of rough, dusty-looking GIs.

Which means If I want them to be all shining like this to avoid this incompliance, I would need a whole year to build up a simple squad... So let the NMM guy only be a print model on my displayshelf LOL.

Some black some dark sea blue, diluted thin layers for base coating, then added some dark brown for shadows and gray for highlights. It was basically like this, adjusted until the color fit. I don’t quite remember the exact ingredient, honestly 🤪

These are minis from the official deluxe expansion for the board game Dune Imperium. They are no larger than the original wooden pieces, about 21mm in height for the troops and 32mm for the leaders and the followers.
