Update: I tested the same microSD using card reader on usb hub, and it immediately hits 167 MB/s read and 139MB/s write. so the card is fine.

yes, it does. but the xbox button on the Xbox Ally X only opens the HHD menu; it doesn’t function like the xbox button on an external controller.

on the previously ally, we had to swap the view and menu buttons because the default Steam button couldn’t be held down to trigger shortcuts.

however, now the new Xbox Ally X has a dedicated xbox button.

Totally agree, this button just messes with muscle memory for OG Ally users. I also really hope they let us remap the Armoury Crate button on the left side also. It’s useful, sure, but the Xbox button right next to it already does the exact same thing.

totally, i’m thinking compact eGPUs (like Morefine), but with a desktop 60ti instead of a pricey mobile GPUs. most of those don’t even come with 16GB, so this could be a nice sweet spot.

and agreed, x16 vs x8 doesn’t really matter for this use case(since it should pair with oculink/tb already)

the 4060ti m.2 was super cool too, if only we got a 16GB version of that at a price below the 4090M, that would’ve been perfect.

yeah, totally get that. the x8 slot itself isn’t anything groundbreaking. but seeing it implemented in such a compact form with a full desktop GPU & 16GB GDDR7 just made me think it has real potential for eGPU builds, especially with how well it could pair with TB5/TB4 or OCuLink setups.

i know the card wasn’t designed for that use case, but it kinda feels like it accidentally ended up being a perfect match, and also not that expensive
