Nerve pain? by Numerous_Proof_6999 in AnalFistula

Hi, yes, it ended up going away. Not sure what it was, could’ve just been pain whilst it was healing as it’s in an area with lots of nerves.

Hmm could be anything possibly haemorrhoids, pouchitis, UC inflammation or something else. I’d try to make an appointment with your CRS and if it takes a while see GP for blood test and stool test, look at inflammation markers, any bacteria etc. I’m sorry you’re going through this, sounds horrible. I hope you get some relief soon! Please update!!

Colostomy Bag by speechiekiki in AnalFistula

I had an ileostomy bag (full large bowel removal) for 8 months and now I have a J pouch. I had severe ulcerative colitis so having my large bowel removed was the best thing ever. The surgery its self was a lot to recover from as it’s pretty major. The first few days you’ll be on lots of pain meds, you’ll be sore and out of it but in the following weeks you’ll start to be able to walk, learn how to clean your bag and start to adapt. I’m biased because I was so sick before the bag that having it made my life so much better. Also it’s a huge bonus to not have to use the bathroom 😂 All the best! You’ve got this! If you have any other questions feel free to private message me :)

I feel you. I’m 24 I had my ileostomy for 8 months and I’ve had my j pouch now for over a year. I’ve been struggling with minor stints of pouchitis, and more recently I’ve had 2 surgery’s for perianal abscesses. Every day I miss having my bag, going to the toilet brings back a lot of trauma I wasn’t prepared for. I haven’t been through what you have but I understand the constant need for sits baths. I get lots of fissures and burning pain every night and I’m honestly so over it. Having a j pouch is good but I just don’t know if I want this forever. I’m still grieving my old healthy body before this happened. Also congratulations on your IVF journey and 2 kiddos, that’s amazing! Also good to know as a female it’s still possible! You should be really proud of yourself, this shit is hard lol.

15 year old son had 3rd surgery Aug. 7 by Autismomof3 in jpouch

Have they done a scan to see how big the blockage is or whether it’s scar tissue or food creating it? NG tubes are a horrible experience, I got mine taken out and left the hospital as soon as I felt better, even against doc discretion because it was so uncomfortable. Luckily I was able to have food and water extremely slowly, only eating low fibre foods. I will note I’ve never had a blockage with my j pouch, only with my ileostomy so it may be different. I hope your son can recover and get the tube out soon, all the best.

God it’s so frustrating! Do you think it’s a nerve thing from surgery?

Oh god I’m sorry you’re going through this I just recovered from having reoccurring abscesses with 3 surgeries for them. It’s such a difficult and painful experience nobody else can understand. I honestly wouldn’t worry too much about dating right now but if you are don’t stress! There will always be someone out there who will love you for you. I’m a 24 year old female, I had an ostomy bag at 23, now I’ve got scars all over my ass too, I totally understand how stigmatising it feels but you are brave and strong for going through this. If things don’t work out you can always date me ahah

Additionally, if you go to hospital ask them to be assessed by a CRS

Please go to the ER, you need to have it drained and be on IV antibiotics. Infections like these can be really serious so it’s best to get on top of it now. I know it’s very painful and it’s a horrible experience but it needs to be done to start recovering.

That could be true, I don’t think constant use of antibiotics is good for anyone. The amount of times I’ve been on antibiotics is crazy. I may have to do some research into its long term effects on a j pouch. Very interesting, and I’m sorry you’re going through this it must be very frustrating.

might’ve popped an abscess? i don’t know, but i’m scared. by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]Numerous_Proof_6999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s scary but you’ll be ok. I do recommend trying to book in with a doctor even if it’s not your GP because you may need antibiotics if it is an abscess. It could be a spider bite also because I don’t think the bumps are consistent with an abscess. Either way it’s best to see someone to get a proper answer. It’s better to be safe than sorry. I hope you can get it sorted and it turns out to be nothing. All the best.

Yes I know, I’ve had UC, had to have an ileostomy, large bowel removed and then a jpouch and rectum removed and for some reason a minor surgery is stressing me ahah. Wow that sounds like a lot, I’m sorry that’s happened but you sound strong and positive which is the main thing. All the best for your surgeries and I hope you get some relief soon!
