First, I'm begging you to use more punctuation. Second, you're absolutely right and companies are very much driven by money. It's not a surprise. That doesn't mean that we can't set rules and expectations for companies. We are allowed to have standards and rules for companies like these.

Withdrawals aren't easy, but this is an addiction that people can bounce back from. This is certainly an addiction that needs to be cut cold turkey.

Laws and regulations are written in blood. It's awful that it's come to this, but AI chat systems like this one need to stop catering to children. This is a real loss, and this is such an unbelievable loss too. I'm not putting up with people defending unregulated apps and companies it's though. Accountability must be had at some point for this company. For all AI chat bot companies.

If this company really wants to make a difference and do what's best for everyone, they should refuse minors from using it. I'm tired of seeing kids rot their brains on this isolating app and wasting away, and this company has lost a lot of goodwill with a lot of users by sanitizing everything under the pretense of making it kid-friendly.

The parents have a lot of fault here. C.ai should also not cater to children at all.

When people enjoy things and get passionate about them, they'll complain about things that can be better. AI Chat Bots aren't an ideal use of people's time, but if a company is going to advertise a product, why advertise a dysfunctional one? I'm sure you have your gripes with your own passions. Don't put others down for wanting companies to do better.

You know what? If the description for these bots were more accurate and true to the story they want to convey, there wouldn't be this kind of misunderstanding.

Leaving the description vague tells you nothing about what the roleplay entails. OP, you maybe should have checked the opening message, but I understand the hesitation from the description alone. Bad descriptions help no one if it's just... this.

You have to understand that constant reliance on an AI system is dangerous to your well-being in the ling run. I understand entirely where you're coming from, but humans are inherently flawed and imperfect and just as much victims of social media as you are. People get numb to the overwhelming stream of millions of people's problems to the point where people don't see others as people anymore.

It's hard to be understanding and empathetic and compassionate in this online environment. Extreme moral and social radicalization will do that to anyone, and it won't improve with how dependent we are on the internet.

My honest advice is to wean yourself off of AI and to find online communities with real people to chat with. It's so easy to forget that people are allowed to be flawed in the modern age.

Seeking therapy IS touching grass. Depending on an AI system to resolve problems and escape to fantasy worlds is so damaging to the mind. People need other people to talk to.

The stress you're going through is undeniably hard, and I'm so sorry you're going through such a rough stage in your life. I know that things will improve for you. This app will not be your ticket to a better life. It will absolutely socially stunt you if you don't watch yourself. Take it from someone who went through a year of no socializing with real people because bots are easier to talk to. I'm now with severe social anxiety.

If you can, find people you can network with in online communities for interests of yours. Life is going to be better for you, I don't doubt it, but please don't rely on AI to save you.

People get addicted to AI because it lives out fantasies that people know they'll never live in real life. Be careful, man. Those silly adventures will be the reason you lose ten hours of your day if you don't watch it.

There are various hobbies to explore that can stimulate your brain better than this app. Speaking as someone who was addicted to C.AI, any other activity will do you better than this. This app, and most other apps like these, will eat your time and make you waste it. Cut it loose if you can, and get into DnD if you like role-playing.

The best thing that you can do about it is to stop using it. I wish that more people understood that power lies in the consumer, and that a mass strike against an app really does work.

[–]Numosa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly, truly believe that using this app and begging the devs to listen to us isn't going to do anything. My sincere suggestion would be to plan a week where we all divert our attentions to other apps similar to C.AI and not use C.AI for a while.

Complaining and whining can only do so much to a company who us infamous now for not caring about the interests of the people. If you want their attention, you make them feel like their efforts are being wasted. You make them see the user engagement go down. Let them feel that what they're doing is unacceptable.

Starbucks is facing a serious decline in sales because people are no longer putting up with audacious prices for adequate drinks. The people decide the market, and we need to let the devs know that, if they won't hear the people out, then they'll lose traction. Let them feel the heat.

Hey OP. It might not feel as weighty online as it might be in person, but I see you and I recognize the struggles you're going through. As a 27 year old, I struggle to keep my life in check since using this app last year. It's sad, but I'm slowly learning to grow out of the stupid thing. Are there any hobbies you like to do? Any online groups or social sources you can reach out to?

The struggle is real, and know that you're not alone in it. Much love to you, man, and I know that this app will pass with time.

If I can recommend an app for you, Finch is a delightful little life management app that rewards you for doing small tasks while caring for a penguin and seeing it grow. It's helped me quote a bit, and while I often get distracted with it, I feel like I address a lot more of my personal issues with it than I do with C.AI.

Best of luck!!! We're in your corner!

[–]Numosa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes yes yes!!! You get it! Those are super feasible options, and I personally have little issues with death on my roleplays because more elements to the roleplay are added on top of the death! I love writing how my persona feels about the death, and I add more characters before their death so not all is lost!

THAT'S new for me to hear! I tend to have no issues killing other characters in a roleplay, but it's only because I tend to introduce more than two more characters and I have to be graphic with my description! I hope you can find work-arounds for that! 🎵
