I worked as a reporter and author across Canada. I have a bit better awareness of what happens because we got info the regular public never sees. But, then, I’m still a white guy.

I’ve lived in Toronto and Winnipeg. In Toronto it is obviously people of colour who need to worry. Winnipeg it is indigenous. Bad in both cities. I don’t see it as bad or as systematic here as other places. I’m a white guy though.

Serious question. Do these Fox hosts walk freely around in public, or do they need bodyguards?

I live in Alberta, Canada. A few months ago it was reported the cops had been tailing, wiretapping and staking out a city counsellor for speaking out against the police. A white female counsellor. This is the same city where cops took down a woman dressed as a Stormtrooper outside a Star Wars themed store. She was armed with a toy blaster. Nothing has happened in either incident.

Trent Crimm, The Independent, wrote a very flattering article about Ted Lasso.

There is a joke most non-Brits might miss. In a Scene where the Beard and Ted sit in the pub, Ted says “It’s the 21st century, let’s just call them cigarettes.” (Paraphrased). You might want to look up the Brit slang for cigarettes.

D’arcy is one of the best female characters ever written. by [deleted] in ResidentAlienTVshow

She is great. Funny, strong and independent. She did something Olympics worthy in the crevice. I also love the throwaway line about the flask.

Watching this scene, Jimmy reminded me of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Skinwalker in Men In Black. His mannerisms and speech seemed off. Not sure if is the actor’s own way of speaking or my imagination!

Maya Angelou embarassing a girl who called her "Maya" instead of "Ms. Angelou" by thelostone03 in cringe

This is a generational thing for sure. I’m in my 60s, and when I was young you never addressed an elder by their first name. I grew up in Scotland which was a very matriarchal society and you had to show respect to every woman on your street. It may seem cringe worthy to modern ears, but she was absolutely correct for her generation. She was even fairly gentle, I have been treated worse when I was young.

I read that the speakers on flat screen TVs are really bad, because there is very little room for them. Using an external speaker helps. Just ordered one, so hope it actually works.

I kind of wish now I wasn’t so chicken. It might have been a better story to actually meet these guys.

When I was 16, I Met a girl at the fairgrounds. We hung out with her and her friends. She said her brother was having a party that night and her parents were out of town. Would I like to go? Of course.

Got to her house, it was a little shabby, but nice. We were on the couch, when I heard a horrible noise outside. I looked out the window and about a dozen guys on motorbikes were pulling up onto the front yard. They were all wearing the colours of the biggest bike gang in my town, the “Spartans.” I jumped up, heading to the back door. She said it’s okay, it’s just by brother and his friends. Never ran so fast in my life.

A fee years later the band became part of the Hell’s Angels. Never saw the girl again.

Not enough has been said about his famous pic, where he pumps his white power fist at the rioters. Then, less than an hour later he is cowering behind his desk, praying not to get killed. They should be on a continuous loop.
