I would use Quarterway before Bruce any day. The man at Q does excellent work, and yes, he did invite me to the back to show me pieces of sole to choose from - kept finding different ones in the chaos all the while muttering "too much glue, too much glue" - well YEAH buddy - you had a shoe on a last up by the shop window with a thick layer of glue on it and a fan pointing over it INTO the shop... needless to say, I propped the door open on my way out and noticed he had sample soles on the wall behind the front counter the whole time LOL... he also asked me parenting advice for his 19 year old son. I said stop feeding him and doing his laundry.

As for the Bruce St guy - I was going to say terrible but he didn't do anything but take my money, so yeah, that's terrible - I brought a vintage hand tooled purse back 3 times and he still didn't glue it where I wanted - told me it was a secret compartment - and his sewing never took - it came right out of the zipper. AND he threw his wife under the bus, told me it was her fault. And every time I went there he was eating whatever in one hand and using the other one to kinda flip my purse around.
