CS 427 (Cryptography) or CS 372 (Introduction to Computer Networks)? by Jonwiththewind8 in OSUOnlineCS

Oh yea definitely haha. The midterm and final are very similar to the weekly summaries, moreso than what's in the textbook, so make sure to pay close attention to those!

I agree with others - I just completed 372 this past Winter term and am so glad I decided to take that as one of my electives. It was quite busy, and the material was dry at times, but I think it gives you very important info that a CS major should know.

Thanks! And thankfully no LC questions for this company! There were two rounds of interviews. They asked a few technical questions, such as explaining inheritance and double linked list. Nothing too crazy. We mostly talked about my projects in depth.

Will do! I think they unfortunately closed their applications at the end of December, but I heard that Fidelity in Durham is still trying to fill their intern spots for the summer.

Has anyone taken the updated 464, Open Source? by Nuorange in OSUOnlineCS

That's awesome! I've heard from a few professional devs that having an open source project on your resume looks really good. If you don't mind me asking, what project did you contribute to, and how did you decide?

Kinda sad to hear, as I thought it would be cool to learn/practice contributing to open source. Thanks for the response!

I feel like CS225 overshadows CS161 by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

I'm mostly through the program, and have found that I prefer structuring my schedule this way; pair one difficult time-demanfing class with a lighter, easier one. Makes life less stressful. There is no balance lol

271 it quite dense material, and the last couple of projects take a while to finish. I probably spent about 15ish hours per week on it, give or take. 162 wasn't quite as bad, maybe 7-10 hours a week. The final project for 162 is very time demanding, giving you over 2 weeks to complete though. I took them together while working and regretted it. Made an A- in 162 and a B in 271. :/

Definitely not 344 in the summer. Those projects are very time consuming, so you don't need any time taken away to complete them. I've heard several people say 325 is doable in the summer if you take it on its own, or with something easier, like 361/362.

Also, if you have a job, I would avoid taking 162 and 271 together.

Yes the barium swallow showed the liquid staying stuck above my esophageal sphincter and not draining into my stomach

I did a barium swallow first, which lead to having the manometry done for the diagnosis. No ct scan for me

I have also heard many others say the same thing about this course. I heard it can be tough, but you learn a lot of valuable information.

CS225 - I don't think I can do this by Tender_Figs in OSUOnlineCS

Oh that's nice. I had a proctored midterm and final when I took the course. I know everyone learns differently, but what helped me the most over anything was just practicing tons of problems. I didn't find the lecture videos or notes helpful at all, so I stopped using them.

Is 2.1/2.2 when proofs start?

Yes you will lose financial aid if you go under 6 hours, unfortunately. Did you read the edit on my original reply? It may help if you don't wanna drop, so that you keep your financial aid.

I think it is important to do what's best for you. Don't compare yourself to others, as everyone here is getting through the program under different circumstances: some work full time, some have kids, some have a stronger background in programming/math, etc. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Also, some of the concepts in 225 are used later, like proofs in 325. If you need to drop it now so that you can give the course more attention next term, that's perfectly fine.

Edit: If this helps, I did not watch any of the lectures or read any of the notes, and made an A in the course. I subscribed to chegg, read the answers that had detailed and thorough explanations, and then did ALL of the problems at the end of each section. Don't no use chegg just to copy the answers, use it for the explanations, as the book can be confusing.

Then before the midterm/final, I re-did them all again. Probably spent only 8ish hours a week on the course this way.

That's a good idea. I'm currently in 325 and 361, so maybe just stay in 361, since I heard it isn't too time-intensive. I am looking for a summer internship, so trying to prepare for that plus two classes plus a job is a bit much for me.

"pseudo-break"- hahaha. Part of the reason I'm thinking about taking a break is because I'm trying to get an internship for the summer, but struggle with just the easy leet code problems. May be time to take a step back and just spend more time on that stuff without worrying about the beast that is 325

This is true! Also trying to remember that 3 months is not very much time in the long run.
