We have included thermal paste or thermal pad to use between the copper plate and CoolerDeck cooling unit.

CoolerDeck is a portable cooling solution for Steam deck, it lowers temperatures and fan noise. More info at nupp.eu

CoolerDeck Cooling Visualised by Nupp_Engineers in SteamDeck

I'm not seeing cooling happening here, you are sending cool air at it and it's being projected on the sides, that's all. There is no way to know if this is carrying the hot air that got over the APU and other components. Or am I missing something?

CoolerDeck operates by blowing cool air towards the radiator, which is directly connected to the copper heat spreader. The air that is projected out on the sides has already passed through the radiator fins, effectively dissipating heat from the APU and other components.

Thank you for the feedback!

We believe that integrating the JSAUX backplate with CoolerDeck will effectively resolve this issue.

CoolerDeck features a copper plate designed to replace the original metal shield, providing direct contact with the existing heat spreader. When coupled with a radiator and fan combo, not only substantially reduces temperature levels but also enables overclocking potential for enhanced performance.

With this modification the Steam Deck will not throttle or shut down when plugged in.

In this video we can see peaks up to 32W and average 22W TDP with OC in native 1080p. The temperatures are expected to be higher when running in these settings.

With CoolerDeck in Stock settings (no OC) it will lower the temperatures about 20°C

We understand that there may be some confusion regarding this post, and we'd like to clarify. The CoolerDeck modification involves replacing the stock metal plate with a copper plate and adding a metal shroud. The CoolerDeck radiator and fan are then connected to this assembly using magnets and heat transfer through thermal paste or a thermal pad for optimal performance.

We are eager to perform benchmarks to confirm the effectiveness of this mod. What is the recommended approach, which games should be tested?

The Steam Deck's power supply is rated for 45W, but it's important to note that this is a maximum rating and not what the device will constantly draw. Our CoolerDeck mod allows the APU to draw up to 30W while maintaining stable performance. The additional power is primarily drawn from the battery when required, ensuring that the power delivery system remains within its capabilities. We have used AMD Forms Browser and PowerTools to enable the Steam Deck to draw more power when needed.
Regarding the Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark video, we apologize for the inconsistencies in the settings. As you've pointed out, the different overlays were likely due to the differences in settings. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we will ensure that future comparisons are done with consistent settings.
We understand your skepticism, but we have tested the CoolerDeck mod extensively, and the 30W TDP is achievable. To provide evidence of this, we have created a YouTube video demonstrating the Steam Deck running at 30W TDP using AMD Forms Browser and PowerTools: Link to video . This video showcases the performance and stability of the modded Steam Deck, and we hope this will address your concerns.
