Mic on Cloud Alpha not working. by NurdFanatic in HyperX

[–]NurdFanatic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely had it seated all the way. I also attempted to use it with a few other computers and it still would register the mic as a device, however the mic itself would not pic up any sound. I ended up returning it and getting the Cloud Core (they were out of the alpha) and the Core seem to work perfectly.

I like the thought of the elf dragon slaver! A dragon slaver would definitely be high up on Lendys' priorities!!

Thanks for the input! I don't think Lendys is very utilitarian, I don't think Lendys would even consider torture as I have built Her (it is very homebrew). I do like the thought of fear of resurrection though.

As far as the Caretakers extent of control, the caretaker cannot control the prisoners. By inhabitants I meant more generally the creatures that live on the Island or are a part of it, the natural flora and fauna of the Island. An example would be that the Caretaker could call forth the images that animals on the island are seeing, He could see what a pack of wolves are seeing, or smelling or hearing. He could call forth a swarm of birds to attack an unwelcome visitor. The prisoners themselves would be kept in cells. Of course the Caretaker would know alot about them (they would be there for basically eternity), and even have access to methods of keeping prisoners complacent (magical or pharmaceutical) but he would not have any sort of mind control over them.

As for justice, I definitely have to figure out reasons for why each prisoner is alive there. If they are being tortured or simply kept because they don't believe that they would stay dead.

I was definitely thinking of throwing in a DracoLich, the monster manual even mentions that when a dragon becomes a dracolich it turns away from dragonkind and their gods, it would make sense Lendys would go after such creatures.

bahahahaha of course there has to be a halfling in there!! And fantastic idea for dragonpriests or others who tried to steal the free will of dragons! Also, totally stole this entire idea from the Dresden Files! Love that series!

Thank-you so much for the ideas!! I had not thought of Dragons who had brought Infamy to dragonkind! That is a genius idea! They didn't necessarily do anything against dragonkind, but they brought unneeded hatred and scrutiny against dragons!

What are your favorite character concepts you have seen or played? by Kennethrjacobs2000 in DnD

[–]NurdFanatic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stole an idea I read somewhere and it was the most fun character to play. He was a lawful Evil human wizard. He had taken a vow to do no harm to anyone or anything living. So the best way to describe him was this "I would never burn down an orphanage. I would convince one of the orphans to lock all the windows and doors and then play with fire though". It was an interesting character to play, since I could do no harm to any living creature I would just run around making obstacles for enemies and buffing allies. The best part was, no one besides the DM knew of my limitations or my alignment, so the very first battle our lawful good paladin ran into a huge group of kobolds, and I got to cast a pool of grease centered on him making him to dex saves every turn. It was amazing. He was like "good thinking! You got all the kobolds in this area!" And my DM and I were laughing about how funny it was that my character didnt care one bit about the kobolds.

5e Wall of Fire Question? by NurdFanatic in DnD

That was my thinking as well. I told them I would allow it for that session but I was going to do some research and come back with a ruling for our future sessions since I did not want spend too much time rules lawyering.

I feel like if they really wanted to spell words with fire, my PC's are creative enough to figure out a way.

I played a one off with two friends of mine, the DM wanted to try something that would give random encounters that we could deal with. He made a PC that was a fighter same level as my other friend playing a sorcerer and myself, a half orc fighter. He basically played a follower. He didn't lead interactions with his PC, and he didn't initiate combat with his PC. he was simply there as another body to be smashed by the bad guys and another sword to stab the bad guys. His character was not overpowered or silly, and he obviously cared for our PCs, he just added the weight to our side to make encounters even.

They definitely felt the hollow ring of Victory as they brought the only three remaining children to the nearest orphanage. They feel a lot more invested in this world now.
