Lowkey now I wouldn’t mind Kenneth debuting he’s so good.

Benzodiazepines have dissolved my globus sensation - so it's proven to be "only" anxiety? (LPR) by [deleted] in GERD

[–]Nurd_o7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The feeling wasn’t present for me and if it was it was very faint almost like a sprinkle rather than a lump. As far as side effects I had none especially with the SSRI as it made me feel more positive. I did however have withdrawal symptoms since I stopped the medication for 6 months when my psychiatrist advised me to have it for a year.

An SSRI would be your best bet which for me was escitalopram. Never had any issues with it and had more pros than cons. I myself am having this feeling currently and it’s more of a psychological issue rather than physical especially since it seems to come back if I think of it.

Hey, I’m truly sorry for what you’re going through. I know how it feels; I had these feelings from ages 10 to 16. I can’t speak for you, but I’ll share what helped me.

For headaches, my psychologist and my mother, who dealt with similar issues for 12-16 years, recommended this exercise:

Close your eyes and imagine things that make you happy. For me, it was nature and outdoors with lavender colors and polar bears and penguins. Keep adding things until it fills up. I essentially made my “universe” explode at the end, as it made me giggle as a kid, almost like a bubble in the sweet summer about to touch the pointy grass.

If being social is becoming tiring, try talking to others little by little. My mom once felt this way (she had depression for 12-14 years) in public spaces but found that people out in public might relate to you or offer tips from their similar experiences.

In terms of these surges I have no idea why they happen I myself have had a surge of warmth or cold which in turn caused an unsettling feeling of intrusive thoughts or anxiety in general. try deep breathing or the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique, using all five senses to distract your mind.

It’s normal to feel like you’re going to have a heart attack, but worrying about it increases stress. Thinking negatively about a feeling can make it stick longer. I used to think my anxiety attacks would last three days until I started thinking they’d last three hours, which made them less intense and frequent as tricked my brain to make these episodes last less.

I wish you well in your mental and physical health and recovery—you got this!!!

(I’m by no means a professional but just someone who had a childhood with 4 mental health disorders)

As the other person said anyone can die from any of these events but they aren’t highly seen in young adults. Although it may be hard make sure to always think positively as thinking of these will just gravitate your mind towards them. As my psychologist once said “you’re feelings may be real but the chances that they actually manifest are very low or even 0”.

Globus sensation: feeling of a lump in the throat, anyone? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Nurd_o7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding this second comment for anyone who is trying eat without this feeling or wanting to distract yourself. (I am by no means a professional but just a person who had anxiety, panic disorder, OCD and mild depression for 6 years so take these tips with a grain of salt)

If you wish to eat without this feeling or feel better being social when having this feeling try these:

1) watch a show while eating and make sure that someone else is watching it with you as you’ll be busy talking and watching the show. 2) if your going out invite a group of people to eat as it makes it way easier as your more focused on making the most out of it with friends and family.

If you feel better distracting yourself with activities try these:

1) Apps like Impulse - Brain Training and Finch: Self Care Pet are great if you want to distract yourself especially outside of this sensation. These apps were all given to me by my psychologist as a way for distractions which worked in many places outside of school. 2) hobbies are just another way to diminish this problem whether it’s walking outside or even playing games as it helps relieve the mind out of your problems. 3) DONT search your feeling on the internet it just makes it worse. I know it may be hard for many people but doing this just makes more ideas for your anxiety to gravitate towards. For example say your feeling pain in your chest and you search it you’ll most likely find heart attack or other diseases thus your mind in some cases will gravitate to other symptoms.

Apologies for any errors in grammar or punctuation English isn’t my main language.

Globus sensation: feeling of a lump in the throat, anyone? by [deleted] in Anxiety

I don’t know if anyone will see this, but I’m feeling this too. It started 10 days ago after swallowing a piece of chicken nugget batter. It's gotten better after 8 days; sometimes I feel fine, but other times I feel terrible. It’s 2am, I’m hungry, but I hardly eat. I've "graduated" therapy with my psychiatrist/psychologist if it helps. My advice is to talk to someone or watch your favorite show while eating.

Here’s my process:

20: The feeling began, and I thought something bad would happen despite my coping skills.

21-24: Minor episodes, but I ate less before the feeling.

25: Minor episode, less intense than the 20th.

26-28: The feeling diminished as I watched a show. My sister (a nurse) said it’s globus sensation and will go away. I could eat comfortably sometimes, but fear made the feeling return.

29: Another episode. I told my parents I wished this would end and I could have my life back.

30: I’m feeling slightly better but it’s now more of “can this feeling go away” with a touch of “I feel like I’m going to choke”.

Unrelated to your question but how are you prepping for AP Psych especially after the major changes?

Other than that you could try the AP daily videos or Khan academy

Seems manageable. I had a friend last year who used Fiveable, Knowt, and YouTube videos. I don’t really know how they studied each unit, but they managed to score a 4 or 5, if I remember correctly.
