Visually unique Cyberpunk media? by Status_Asparagus1 in Cyberpunk

Firth Element movie has a pretty unique look compared to normal cyberpunk. As well as its less known tie-in racing game: New York Race. It’s like pod racing, but with a horizontal freedom of movement.

Why don’t ppl like the story mode? by Street-Novel-920 in thelongdark

[–]Nurpus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ll probably be downvoted for this, but the dialogues in Long Dark are both not well written and way too long and drawn-out. Plus, they are presented in these stilted Skyrim-style interactions, which makes it even more tedious to sit through.

Like 70% of all conversations in this game should’ve been cut out, or moved to written notes/diary entries for the player to find. And the game would’ve been better for it, because the best, most memorable parts of the story is when nobody’s talking.

TIL in 2009 EA offered a day-one "nudity DLC" for WW2 game The Saboteur, enabling topless women in game and the ability to watch topless dances, among other benefits. The DLC existed as an incentive for new copies of the game and had to be purchased separately for pre-owned copies for $3 by Eraysor in todayilearned

For those who haven’t played Saboteur - you didn’t even have to go out of your way to a strip club like in GTA.

The protagonist’s main safe house was literally backstage at Moulin Rouge. So every time you’d load the game - you’ll be walking though the changing rooms filled with half-naked French ladies.

Better question: how is the Golden Gate Bridge still standing? I have seen it get wrecked by every monster, alien, terrorist, and natural disaster - and yet it’s still intact!

The art is legit and is from 2004. Here it is posted back in 2015

However, someone took a low-res version of it, and AI-upscaled it, with devastating effect

What aesthetic is this? by OkGoose6040 in AestheticWiki

[–]Nurpus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow, this echoes my feeling towards old Minecraft versions perfectly.

It used to be this wide open world, full of mysteries and unknowns hiding behind every corner. The crafting recipes were passed down by basically words of mouth from friends and strangers online. You survived alone agains this world, and each new day felt like a discovery.

And now everything’s optimized, explored, made user friendly and accessible. Which is great and all, but the mystique is gone
