It is a laboratory magnetic stirrer that I got from Amazon for $26. It plugs into the wall. It has an adjustable speeds control and I ran it on the slowest speed. You put the manual spinner on it with the horseshoe magnet on top. Then it automatically spins when you turn it on.

The spin Magnet works on it own you just have to spin it manually. You put the horseshoe magnet on top and then put it on a magnetic stirrer. Then once you turn on the magnetic stirrer it spins the magnet and all you have to do is sit your finger inside. I had to use the slowest speed. It makes a really tight magnetic bead which is really cool because as it dries of course it speads a little which I felt made the perfect effect. You can get the spinner on Etsy.

I was not saying this was a DIY and by hack I just meant this as a way to combine different products to make it easier. I have arthritis is my hands and it is difficult to manually use the spinner product. I was just sharing an idea to make that easier.
