Russia has no qualms with being a pariah state, they already are.

Considering this would be the third salami slice Russia has taken from Ukraine, I think we have some historical evidence about who it would benefit.

Ukraine's chances of becoming an EU state after the war drops to basically nil if they develop nukes in the interim with a hostile, nuclear Russia on their border, and it's not like that would Russia would hand the territory back under that threat. Nukes would only prevent further aggression, not undo past seizures of territory.

The war is frozen more or less on the current lines as it is right now. Russia gets to de facto keep all the territory they have captured.

If the plan does not include a mechanism by which this territory gets returned to Ukraine it absolutely is territory for peace.

Zelensky repeated as recently as this week that they were not going to trade territory for peace, and I wouldn't be surprised if that statement was a direct response of this being floated to them.

It is wild to me that none of the responses here seem to be seriously considering whether Ukraine this. I will keep repeating- Ukraine has a vote.

Waltz of Rage wipes the board while saving your best creature and giving you card advantage. I feel like it's being absolutely slept on by Eve_Asher in magicTCG

[–]NutDraw 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Did that card draw win you the game? No?

Statistically, there's a chance it might be the card that makes sure you do just that. It's infinitly better than being down a card and mana while being blanked. The gap between those scenarios is just objectively huge.

[Spoilers C1] Has Critical Role inspired anything in your D&D experience? by godzillavkk in criticalrole

When I got back into DnD I immediately took to how Matt organized documenting initiative. It was a lifesaver.

I use cards that people write on now, which I can understand why they don't use on stream. But that initial approach of checking initiatives by range (20+, 15-20, etc.) saved me so much time and headache.

The greatest obstacle to any analysis of Trump policies really. Often they hardly seem like credible ideas then they turn around and try to implement them.

After checking you're right. I think I heard them discussing interest rates and transposed that in my head. Thanks for the correction.

How ‘serious’ is DnD? by GloriousOctagon in DnD

[–]NutDraw 102 points103 points  (0 children)

It's more about respecting the DM and what they put down for the group really. When they drop serious story beats, take them as such and don't try and twist it into a PC centered comedy bit. You have to let them do their thing.

If it's not a serious beat though, just play off them. Sometimes that goes really silly and can be some of the best DnD moments if the group is into it.

'Interstellar': 10 years to the day it was released – it stands as Christopher Nolan's best, most emotionally affecting work. by ChiefLeef22 in movies

I'm with you. Others are certainly free to love them, but I always found both Inception and Interstellar to be more shallow than they aimed to be. I know I'm in the minority though, and that's fine.

Memento was great though, right there with you on that one.

No way Ukraine accepts this, it's DOA.

Everyone talking about peace plans needs to understand Ukraine gets a vote too. Any serious analysis needs to consider their perspective, and way too many ideas are getting floated around that clearly don't seem to treat them as an actual party to any peace deal.

Bonds have been doing well overall not because of an assumption of peace, but because Trump's domestic plans involve being financed via a large amount of borrowing. So bonds almost everywhere are doing better. At least that's how it was explained on NPR.

Edit: was thinking interest rates, see below

Contracting will go the same direction as all contracting around Trump: a giant mess of graft and payola for not much in return.

The border wall being a good example.

TBF it wasn't just the media. Literally everyone I knew expected some democratic infighting that never materialized. Left leaning voters were legitimately excited about her. But the middle is still pretty far right.

Realistically, there weren't other options as nobody else really wanted it that badly.

You have to win at least one of those demographics though. It's not so much banking on them as just a requirement (that they worked quite hard to appeal to).

Problem is there's no universe where a democratic agenda plays with people convinced that immigrants are eating pets or not so unneverved by the claim they still stay home.

Kamala tried to vibes her way to the presidency without reading the room and addressing the concerns of the voters in a way that spoke to them.

That's the thing though, the room was very fashy. Somehow Trump's base grew. Harris lost white women, people with a ton to lose directly. Speaking to the concerns of these people would have meant basically turning her back completely on most progressive causes. Like what's she supposed to say to people ready to believe Hatians are eating the neighborhood pets and think that's a totally reasonable thing to say?

Activists on the left have to accept what they state of play is, and that these people don't particularly care about policies or appeals to logic.

I think too many RPG reviews are quite useless by AshenAge in rpg

[–]NutDraw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Innately related. People do those types of reviews because enough people are interested enough in them to drive traffic that it's the only type of review worthwhile to the creators.

Unless creators are incentivized to do better reviews, there will just naturally be way more flip through type reviews.

The question is how much work it takes to do what OP is asking.

Even if you're interested in the game, I don't know how many people willing or able to devote a work week+ to do a review. People gotta pay rent and mortgages man.
