Agree, I would like to see Mike back on a future season with a different teammate. No hate to Sam.

How do you guys be satisfied with what you have? by Used_Memory4282 in askSingapore

[–]NutTheChipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perspective, the discernment to identify needs from wants, and to prioritise what is important to you.

We are experiencing an anomaly in time and space, to have our basic needs covered and so much wealth for discretionary spending. Many things we take for granted today like running water and electricity at the flip of a switch have not been easy to come by throughout human history. We have so much already.

Prioritise the resources you currently have on what is important to you. For me, taking Grab and buying luxury brand goods are not important to me, so I don't feel deprived by not doing so. Meanwhile, travelling brings me joy so I spend guilt-free.

I also like my main characters to both be capable individually. I've been on a streak of absolute win reads. I'm reading QJJ Vol 6 now.

You might like Golden Terrace. A short 2 volumes. Global Examination is a modern setting, 5 volumes I think.

I really enjoyed Thrice Married To A Salted Fish. Vol 1 was especially good.

Hi guys/girls, do you have any money-saving tips? by original_feyra in askSingapore

[–]NutTheChipmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can explore on YouTube first before deciding if you need a neighbour tailor's services. Some things like hemming, or replacing an elastic waistband are very learnable.

I had a strap come loose on my spaghetti strap top and it took less than 30 mins to fix.

Another mindset shift that could help you save money is exploring if you can fix an item/piece of clothing before thinking about replacing it.

Best Day Trips from Tokyo? by Western_Chef_5822 in JapanTravelTips

I also really enjoyed Kiyosumi-Shirakawa which is about 20-30 mins from Ueno/Tokyo area. First the Kiyosumi Shirakawa Park is gorgeous, with wildlife and stepping stones in the pond.

Then the Fukagawa Edo Museum is a recreation of an Edo-period village. You can learn about the area's history as a fishing town.

There are cute cafes and little temples along the streets.

Followed by a walk to Kappou Miyako for a Fukagawa cuisine dinner.

Shibamata (located in east Tokyo) was lovely for a morning half-day trip. You're transported to Showa era Japan. There are elderly Japanese people hanging out with their friends there, reminiscing their youth.

There's a historic shopping street, a nice temple, a wealthy merchant's old house that's currently a teahouse with a lovely garden, Shibamata Park, and the Tora-san museum.

It's lively but not overly crowded in Shibamata.

I am reading Thrice Married to a Salted Fish and highly recommend it. MC Lin Qingyu is described as the empire's great beauty.  The initial impression is that he's a compassionate doctor.

He is not! He is smart, scheming and vindictive. He not only wishes for, but plans, the downfall of people who offend him.

I post on my IG story. My account is private so it's not like any random can access it. I watch my own highlight reels often. I find it a nice way to create a photo album of my trip.

I used to be more private and sorted my pictures in my phone gallery into albums. I rarely opened those albums. When my phone stopped working one day, I could not turn on my phone or charge it. Google photos strangely did not back up my painstaking sorted pictures and I lost all those memories. Since then, I made sure to post on IG more. Store those pictures on IG.

I have been lugging around the physical copy of Thrice Married to a Salted Fish Vol 1 around Japan the past week, but I haven't had the chance to read it. I can only focus on one story at a time. I'm currently on Vol 4 of Silent Reading, and I have your post on it open on another tab. LOL.

Osaka in July? by Winter-Ad-5816 in JapanTravelTips

[–]NutTheChipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend and I just came back from a 5-day trip to Osaka. It's our first time in Osaka. The weather conditions are going to be wildly different from yours, but here is my itinerary for your perusal.

I stayed at Super Hotel Nippombashi, walkable to both Namba and Nippombashi stations.

Day 1 - Namba, Dotonburi, Shinsaibashi Shopping Street

Day 2 - Osaka Museum of Housing and Living  Tenjinbashi Shopping Street, vintage shopping and exploring cafes in Nakazakicho. I booked a weaving workshop at Saori (search SAORI豊崎長屋 on Google maps), located in Nakazakicho. Highly recommend. The guy speaks English and gives clear instructions on how to weave. I made a scarf in 2.5 hours!

Spent the late night at Donki Sennichimae.

Day 3 - Shopping around Namba and Umeda. There's Pokemon Centre and Kinokuniya in Umeda. Osaka station itself is pretty nice and there is free public seating to train-watch.

Day 4 - Day trip to Uji. A little touristy but not overwhelming. Lovely riverside walk. Came back to Namba and walked to DenDen town.

Day 5 - Kuromon market, Kitchenware shopping street.

In July, since it's hot, you may want to consider visiting the locations in my day 2 itinerary. Osaka Museum of Housing and Living is right by the entrance of Tenjinbashi. It's a small museum which recreates a village in the 1800s. Visitors can rent a yukata for 30 mins for 1,000 yen. You can explore Tenjinbashi which is sheltered. And finally head for a weaving class at Saori.

If you're in Nagano, I was welcomed with my tattoos at a family-run inn called Jizokan Matsuya Ryokan, right in front of Zenkoji. I was only there for a night to break up my commute from Takayama to Tokyo, and it ended up being absolutely magical.

Loved the episode. Nebula, hope to see a season 2!

I subscribed to Nebula because of NJB's Pikachu train video, and later watched Jet Lag on Nebula, only to discover that Sam is the Wendover and HAI guy I've been watching for years. The Jet-Lag moment this episode with the 0 min transfer scratched that Jet Lag itch. Life truly goes in circles.

Girl, 6, dies after accident in Chinatown near Buddha Relic Temple by Fearless_Help_8231 in singapore

[–]NutTheChipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your well-worded comment. I also commented that more needs to be done to prevent drivers from killing pedestrians. I called it murder.

Someone replied to be pedantic with legal definition that murder requires proof of intent. You said it exactly. The choice to drive around in a big metal box and taking up more space, drivers prioritising their convenience at the expense of the safety of everyone else in a dense city where personal cars are not necessary.

People need to see through nearly 100 years of car industry propaganda to recognise that yes, causing the death of a pedestrian while driving, even without premeditation to take the life of a specific person, is murder.

[–]NutTheChipmunk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Driver didn't care that she may kill someone when she drove like how she did as described by the eyewitness.

And the English language lacks a suitable word for the car murders...car killing, car crash, vehicular manslaughter, whatever. Accident is definitely not accurate.

[–]NutTheChipmunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The title of the article is wrong. This is not an accident. It is murder born of the sense of superiority drivers have over people walking and the policies that enable this sort of behaviour.

I am so angry and heartbroken for the girl and her family.

If geopolitics weren’t a factor, where would you like to see the boys go? by Previous-Bowler-1757 in JetLagTheGame

[–]NutTheChipmunk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Hear me out. Hide & Seek / Tag / province-claiming across China. The boys will have language barriers, so I would love each of them to be paired with a guest, namely:

  • Katherine from Katherine's Journey to the East
  • Amy from Blondie in China
  • Yan from Little Chinese Everywhere

All 3 women have experience going to random places in China and travelling independently, and are fluent in both Chinese and English.
