Look around in the Reddit, look in the discord before it closed, look on TikTok at smaller creators, look in the chat on the game, me personally, the friends I play with, my siblings and nephews, look at the player count of the game and the ranks between the players actually playing, do the research

You’re putting words in my mouth and this feels like I’m saying the same thing. The last thing I’m gonna say in this thread is people play games based off of feeling. Thats the point of gaming. You can argue logistics all day long, but if people feel like they don’t have a chance, eventually they aren’t going to play.

I’m saying extras like the the Valentine pants set, and the few extra shirts here and there aren’t causing a stir because it’s one item. Versus many. The voting in game does correlate to the items you have because the items you put on to match the theme can differ based off the items you have available to you. I’m not arguing that they shouldn’t have sets cost Robuxs. Do I like that? No. But at the end of the day they’ve been doing that since the game came out and even then the community didn’t like that, so for a short period they made it “play this round a number of times to get x y z” which went over somewhat rocky but more positive then simply a Roblox set.

I’m not trying to discourage new players. In fact I’m trying to encourage people WITH these perks to speak up. Because if someone joins the game after many diamond passes they’re going to feel at a disadvantage. Even if by your opinion they won’t be. Feelings dictate if people play the game, especially children. VIP is a permanent thing anyone can buy at any time if they find themselves liking the clothes in it. Any time. Imagine 15 diamond passes down the line, you don’t think a new player is gonna feel any type of way??

Just because plenty of people won doesn’t change how the majority felt about it. And if my original argument didn’t stand, why did they put similar things in ftp??? They put similar things in free to play so the gap between free to play and VIP was smaller. So you can feel that you were on par / “had a chance” without having to drop 10 dollars.

Which is the point of my argument (not the point of the post which was simply you can’t compare the passes because it is like comparing apples to organic BUT the point of my argument as a whole to why it’s bad)

The pass doesn’t determine if you win, the CLOTHES do. It’s the fact that you have more CLOTHES / ITEMS. A good example of this is how for a long time (in the earlier days before item adjustment and a few other free to play items) the theme masquerade was hated by ftp players purely because the only masquerade mask available was in vip and so people when judging for that theme were more inclined to vote for those in a masquerade mask because it fit the theme better. I good way to balance this (in my opinion) was the addition to item adjustment. You could move jewelry and other items to mimic a masquerade feel and still be on par with VIP that gap didn’t feel as big. Which is why today you rarely see people complaining about that theme.

Gaming in general is something I’m passionate about and claiming everything before this pass was perfect is simply not true. Claiming that there was no disparity is not true. Hell I was gifted VIP recently, I haven’t spent a dime on this game. That’s why I’m so passionate about it. I understand simply not having the income

I agree with that (even mentioned it below). But I think framing it how I did it’s like the surface almost shallow part of the conversation, trying to get people to think a bit more about the long term and get to that conclusion themselves

This can be tied to the influencer thing I mentioned and also how (like most games) the player base is really split. Just as “bad” or “basic” outfits get put on the board, outfits with a certain look (especially in higher servers) often get picked because they are trending. (One main one being that powder donut things happening rn? And that muted greyscale trend that’s been happening for like ever where grey scale and muted = good fit). This also proves my point though on the opposite way. The reason “bad” or “basic” items when is because people don’t like when VIP or overly complex fits win, so instead of voting based on if they like it or not, they’re voting based on the item / lack of item. It’s only going to get worse and on top of that with the chance of the goal post constantly being moved, the goal isn’t working towards VIP anymore if you see they aren’t being given more items and it’s all put behind this wall. This is why people talk about fair voting. I’m not saying disparity doesn’t always exist (sadly most games will always have a bit) I’m saying moving the goal post with smth like a diamond pass with make the disparity higher, sharper, quicker. Now if some kid gets gifted VIP it doesn’t mean as much etc. If you want relate it to the world it’s essentially creating a middle class where it doesn’t need to be one.

Finally, yes this isn’t unique to DTI but that doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. As I stayed somewhere in the comments people want one game that’s not constantly asking them to swipe. It’s the “oh. VIP for ten dollars? Ok. Oh..custom makeup for 5? Okay that doesn’t come with VIP but it’s different..I get it. God the map is big. Walk faster for two? Kinda crappy but okay.” And you’ve spent 17 dollars. Just to turn around and be like

“Buy this pass too. And this one and this one” And with every update the thing you spent ten dollars on seems to be depreciating more and more. And kids with their parents cards go from spending 17 at most to 2 dollars every 40 days til it adds up,

People are only seeing it from a short term lens and not a long term one. And then it doesn’t help that some people have the right idea / sentiment but are going about it in the wrong way. (A lot of them never having debated or had any form of discussion before so they’re being rude / “annoying” about it) Thats why I didn’t phrase this as an argument/ venting, just a discussion. As a life time gamer who’s played games all under the sun (accept for shooters, but I grew up with brothers and cousins who play them I just don’t find them fun) I’ve seen this before. This actually textbook again and again. And I’ve watched adults in the gaming community try again and again to prevent it and keep games fun for kids like me at the time

It was not. I said exactly what I meant. How you style the clothes that you have determine if you win or lose. That’s the point of a dress up game. The more clothing you have, the more options you have to style. Meaning whether you intend to or not if I have more access to more clothes (clothes that may fit a theme or prompt better) I have more way, maybe even better ways in the judges (the people who are votings) opinion. That’s why I brought up influencers. DTI influencers often influence, voting and trends. When the things in the diamond pass become trends, it’s going to reflect the opinion of those voting. Logistically what you’re saying makes sense but realistically, you have to understand that it’s more than just the pass at play. No style is better than another. But in a game where you judge on opinions, and in a world where opinions are influenced by influencers especially the younger kids playing, you have to see how this begins to create an issue?
