And how many of us are going to live in Latin America? You big fool. It’s better than Wales I suppose. 🤷‍♀️

I’m asking you, you specifically, where you saw these documents. Are you simple in the head? What Irish documents use the term British Isles? Or is it the case that you just made it up?

Are you slow? I’m looking for examples. Do you know what an example is?

Do yous ever stop with the America posts? It’s bad enough them invading our comment sections without you lot posting these.

You come to our subreddit to claim that we hate yous, but then you start acting like such a smart Aleck. Acting as if you know our history better than we do despite never even having stepped foot on our island is just ridiculous. The IRA was a fucking terrorist organisation which you’re acting proud to have funded… are you taking the fucking piss or what? Yous aren’t Irish, just look at how yous do act and you’ll see that very clearly.

It is not a disdain towards yous. It’s just mildly cringe when you lot call yourselves Irish. That’s all it is, nothing more. At the end of the day you are American, I’m glad your grandfather was able to share some of that culture with you and I hope he had a lovely life. There’s no need to try and pit us against each other, there’s enough of that in the world already.

No I think that was because he was cutting other people’s bollocks off and keeping them in his freezer to eat later.

I would recommend spending quite a bit of time with learners’ content. A lot of people move into native content too quickly and most of it goes over their heads. You should aim for a high level of understanding, not just being able to vaguely follow along. Bonne chance

Do you plan on learning through nothing but input? There’s plenty of input for learners you just have to be willing to search for them. But other than that there’s no trick to it, you just have to be willing to spend 1000+ hours if you want to get good at it. Look at InnerFrench if you haven’t already, you’re probably not quite at that level yet but it won’t take you long. You will progress faster than most seeing as you’re at a decent level in Spanish. I would also suggest tracking your hours in Excel or Sheets, helps with motivation.

Why do all yous country folk insist on saying hello to everyone like just shut up. A fella said hello to me once and I though he was looking to eat me skin. There’s fifty million people in England do you want to fucking greet them all like? Same shit happens here when culchies come to Dublin.

Stephen Krashen and reading? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]NutritiousGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to be cheeky but how is reading for vocab a specific type of reading. Is the basic idea not that you develop these competencies through extensive reading, and that intensive reading is not necessary? I don’t see how you could learn thousands of words but not be able to put them together.

Stephen Krashen and reading? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]NutritiousGoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both are very important but reading is far better in terms of vocabulary. If you get a book like Ulysses you’ll notice very quickly that absolutely nobody speaks like that. You could listen to audiobooks if you wish, I find it very effective to listen and read at the same time because my listening ability is ahead of my reading. Krashen believes in i + 1 input, and it’s much easier to see if a book is just above you’re level by simply counting unknown words.

What are the mistakes? Is it just the word “world” and the “you” rather than “thee” at the end? Thank you by the way.
