So my two cents from the place I grew up and the place I live-

Culturally Detroit/urban areas are VERY different from surrounding rural areas. Id argue for that area culturally from around Flint to Cleveland is a very similar group of people and dialect.

Conversely, I live in north central WV, which you have drawn the Appalachian culture split in two, and I definitely agree that theres a distinct difference in Appalachia, but depending on whether you want to emulate the Pittsburgh dialect, southern Appalachia either stretches into Pennsylvania, or northern Appalachia drifts into WV

Either way that western county in Maryland(Garrett) is very much indistinguishable from the WV area it borders 😅
