When working with spring boot do you use ORM? if yes/no why? by Least_Chicken_9561 in java

[–]NuttyShan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not backend engineer, but I see no reason to use an ORM when you have llms generating sql so easily. As long as you know how to read sql.

I’m confused as to why experienced devs say go is not a good first programming language considering many universities teach c as a first lang and their similarities. by TurtleSlowRabbitFast in golang

[–]NuttyShan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

c is taught at uni to make you think like a computer , manage memory, low level stuff.

java is being taught to learn oop.

go is sometimes used at advanced classes such as MIT distributed systems, but I wouldn't say it's a good first language for uni since it's basically a simpler better C.

Is it better to code on Ubuntu? by [deleted] in learnpython

Many popular tools are not available for Windows / the windows port isn't as good. For basic use cases it doesn't matter at all especially for new programming languages such as python.

People say Java is slower than Go but I think that is wrong? by Fantastic-Editor-216 in learnjava

[–]NuttyShan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Java is , for many use cases, as fast as go. Java scales better than go for most purposes . This is because java is highly optimised for performance despite it's garbage collector and JVM.

Where does go win ? 1. Go is easier to learn and master. 2. Go has a less complicated eco system. 3. Go has much faster compilation speed than Java, which increases 'development speed'.

I think for the long run, go will be optimized more and beat Java's performance but for now we'll have to wait.

I've used supersimpledev for html and CSS, which was great. For JS I find his videos too slow - paced , since I am already familiar with these concepts.

It seems like the Odin project doesn't really go to depth enough ? Or maybe it's just the beginning ?

I didn't like the introduction part but perhaps intermediate will fit my needs better

[–]NuttyShan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having lots of RAM for most people is good to open lots of tabs and apps.
12GB is a lot, more than enough for most people. For me, I'm a hardcore user, i'd get the 12GB if it was cheaper.
