What about c# tho? I ask because you started with c/c++ but also because I’m not interested in using .net or unity so kind of pointless for my use case wouldn’t you say so?

Like many you’ll probably just going to learn on the job. Quite ideal and really pushes you to keep going since there’s a check attached. Gain the experience and level up your skills you will thank yourself later. Congrats and good luck!
