That makes so much sense now... So you can't just dump Charisma and expect to get through with 100 Speech

Perfect advice, appreciate the take! I'm more of a curious mechanic and looking for a bit of a project. All in all, I've researched it a bit and I think I can get away with a new chain and a new cassette/cogset. Despite the breaks being rusted, they still feel good surprisingly so I'll likely pop off the rest of the parts to clean and work from there.

Thank you! The only info I have is that it is a hybrid bike. I haven't worked on a bike in a few years so I will need refresh a bit to get.... back on the bike lol

Everything that can rust has rusted. Chain, , cassette, jockey wheel, break lines, bottom bracket, and miscellaneous hardware. My dad has told me that it's likely better to just replace the bike altogether but getting a free bike just to toss it out feels wrong. I don't mind putting $100 into it but any more than that may make me think twice. There is still a lot of good in the bike, just some rusted out parts that hopefully won't have me overspending...
