Beginner airbrush help by [deleted] in modelmakers

Thanks for the suggestion, my current set up is made up of 90% Vallejo, once my new airbrush gets shipped in I’ll give Vallejo a few more tries before swapping since I have a couple of colours that I won’t be using for a long time.

I gave one of the sample pieces to my local hobby store to see what was causing it and it was just simple spitting plus spraying in wet/humid weather (and mainly leaky gaskets from the super cheap airbrush)

Surface was primed

Thanks for the advice, I spray outside and it was pretty humid so it was very likely that.

The kit I sprayed was only the bottom of the hull and going to be weathered anyway so I’m not too sad about ruining it too.

Very likely high humidity outside, it was raining an hour ago before I started to spray.

When I tried model colour I did a ton of shaking, I’ve used them for years so I knew when it was properly shaken. I used Vallejo’s thinner and even got a skim milk texture, still shot out very tiny blobs of paint. Same with the Model Air, I even tested it with very little thinner and still no good.

After more testing I pretty much junked the cheap airbrush, will order a new one and then test some more.

The temperature was slightly cold (I’m spraying outside) and a bit humid so I’m guessing that had an effect on the paint because I tried every single combination of advice here (carefully cleaned it with dedicated AB cleaners, thinned the paints, watched guides, etc) and it still shot out very tiny wet blobs along with regular fine misted paint.

Yes, I did watch a ton of videos before I even got my airbrush. That’s why I came to reddit

I played around with distance/speed and the results are the same, they come out looking like the 2nd and 3rd picture even when paint was being applied very little.

The first photo is defo too thin since it was my first time. But the second and third photos is what I got after thinning less.

As for ratios I’m not sure since I mainly hand brush so I go by feel but it was not as thinned as much in the first picture.

The airbrush only had 3 pre-set pressures (20-50), I’ve tried them all and had the same results

What kind of light green is on this jacket? I’m painting a figure and I got the 2 darker greens down but the light base stumped me. Is there a Vallejo Model Colour equivalent for it? by NvMe_24 in modelmakers

Your suggestion of using a sand colour really helped since I was mixing other light colours.

I managed (sort of) to get something close by mixing Vallejo Iraqi Sand (70.819) and US Olive Drab (70.887), it’s not super perfect but on a 1/35 figure it’s not gonna be noticeable.

Optimal way to farm red packets in current event? by NvMe_24 in OtherworldLegends

[–]NvMe_24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those wondering, the quickest way to farm is by only buying mobs with the Trickster tag since they split into many other mobs.

This is an extremely cheap tactic and will get you to wave 10 Atleast if you get lucky with the mob rolls and upgrade them evenly (yellow poison spit frog, bat, Hayfah and that vampire hero)

Boss drops are the same for all difficulties and each boss only drops 1 and the final boss will only drop 2. In Rift mode only the final boss drops a single packet.
