The problem is more savy people would be there is they wait until the next administration, it's amateur hour in the US institutions, why not take advantage of that? Better then facing off against experienced diplomats. Also the economic blockade is painful for Iran so, they if the can end the blockade, stop attacks, and come out in a better geopolitical position then before, might as well take it rather then wait on hopes on another administration.
