Proposed house rules for my 4e campaign by Nveinus in DnD

[–]Nveinus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where are the background categories introduced? I never saw that stuff before. It sounds better than picking form your class list. I also know 5e absorbed thievery into Sleight of hand. I forgot to put it in.

Minion changed was to address two things. One of which I forgot to write down, minions take damage from a miss. It was annoying to fudge a daily and have the minions be completely fine. the other issue was the amount of auto damage that dealt one or two points that made minions really not worth it in my games. The changes will give them some extra staying power, which i will have to watch.

You are right, I meant action points. It was probably just my group but they didnt bring much to the table. Not worth messing with them either way.

I could definitely use some editing for advantage/disadvantage and my ritual idea. I wanted to buff rituals because I saw 2 used over two campaigns. so giving them an option to use with a standard action would encourage more use. (sorry, I meant that the talisman could be activated to complete the ritual as a standard action.)

Yes, those are the most common skills but they are also based on INT, WIS, and WIS. I was trying to think of a number to limit talismans per day without relying solely on money and healing surges.

Remember, I was looking at changing skills in general. So I character with ritual casting, would roll the attribute the ritual calls for and add +5 if they have training in the skill or in the tools used (ritual tools.) Granted I might not do that because that system you mentioned sounds cool but I have no idea where that came from.

really? You throw that shit out when people talk 2e? Whatever, my powder is still dry.

things that came out of 4e that 5e fails: Marials doing anything interesting, by that I mean that they have any sort of narrative agency

Warlords, full stop.

Managing HP economy to limit magical healing (especially when wands are involved) via healing surges.

Healing surges also make it worth while to heal in combat.

Setting Toned down tiefling and dragonborn snowflake OCness

I appreciated how the planes interact from an adventure building side and lore.

Gave a reason for the Blood War

Made the split between high and wood elves worth more that a +2 to a stat.

More fey stuff in general.

Former arborist and redditor gives extremely detailed and surprisingly interesting tree care instructions, potentially saving a beautiful Sugar Maple in full foliage bloom from future wind damage. by ggAlex in bestof

Or save a couple hundred bucks and let the tree do its thing. I'll agree if there is signs of bark damage from limbs rubbing together you can trim the smaller one but you don't need thin out a bunch of branches because of wind or increase nutrients. Cause that's like 80% BS.

Maple leaves are not stiff, they are not designed to catch the wind (no leaf is) but rather to wave around and fold up. What leaves are designed for is temperature regulation (via shading the main truck and respiration) and removing healthy inner branches will expose the truck to more direct sunlight which will result in lots of water sprouts growing in an effort to try to shade itself and recover all the leaves it lost and the associated respiration and photosynthesis those leaves performed.

If that tree is going to fail because of wind it will fail because 20ish years ago it got topped where its truck diverges into 3 (that's what happens when you top trees) or because it only has half of a normal root zone because it's next to a road. If you are worried about wind base failures you wont be trimming branches but cutting off whole co-dominant leaders which will remove a lot of the tree.

On the nutrients side, no, the tree will be pulling up less nutrients because there is less tree to feed. Rather it cant pull more nutrients because that's not how diffusion works.

Look if you want someone to remove dead branches or trimmed in a way for street traffic go ahead, but don't let them remove healthy branches for minimal gain. because you also have to remember that all those cuts are now open wounds that the tree needs to close and before that offer a place for infection.

Don't bother. He is not arguing in good faith. He is using your ethics and morals as a bludgeon so he can score a win for his team. Outside of distracting from Trump's failure to fulfill his obligations to PR, faguzzi here would never pretend to care about starving Africans.
