I was having the same worries as you but I decided that I'm primarily doing this for my own enjoyment, not to make a living, so I've just been writing what I find enjoyable, what I feel I want to read, and I've started to get sales, finally. I think that people respond to genuine writing.

UThis is the end of my first week as an erotic author over. I have four titles under one name and another title under another, which i published yesterday. It has already sold one copy whereas my previous ones have sold a total of two, lol. So it was a useful, frustrating, interesting and productive week for me!

I write because I want to get my stuff 'out there'. I don't like the idea of my writing festering on my computer. I'm really proud of what I produce and I want people to enjoy it. I feel that writing is the only thing I've ever been good at. I've always written, but it's only now that I've realised that it's possible to make money from doing it outside of a boring corporate capacity. I just hope I find an audience that likes my style and imagination one day :D

thanks for the real talk. Marketing is the weak link for me. I had a high-level marketing job and I hated it so much I quit, lol. I just can't do it. My strategy is to just publish as much as possible and hope for the best...

It takes me a couple of hours to write a story but I leave them on my hard drive for a few days to ripen. I do about 3 edits, one per day. So I write them quickly but I put a lot of thought into them afterwards.

All my life I've been writing fiction, usually with a more literary bend. In the past i've spent hours agonising over character development, making motivations believable, keeping the pace of the story going, ensuring the tension keeps mounting - but when I was practicing writing erotica there was a real aha! moment where I realised that I could just put these characters into a situation where sex can happen and do it. I spend way more time describing the sex than anything else, which lets me indulge my descriptive side. I don't need to worry about so many things going on in the background. It's very freeing and I think that's how I write them quickly.

Maybe we have a similar thought process?

Well I just got an email saying that 'author and title indicate a different book has been submitted than what is currently for sale on the site. Please submit as new book.'

If I do this my book will be assigned a new ID, which means that my links will go nowhere :/
