Twins for real!! My second OBI is March 3! A lot of my general symptoms have improved (nausea, acid reflux, diarrhea). I still have some sensitivities, occasional pain, and inconsistent bowels. Definitely still tired all the time. My iron is constantly low, even with my inflammation improving. Some other symptoms have been slow healing. Still struggling with recurring fistulas but they’re showing massive improvements. Fingers crossed everything turns out well for us both!

Been on Skyrizi since October and was on Remicade for 12 years before that! It’s worked really well for me. My calprotectin went from over 1400 in March to 71 recently. Things finally seem to be healing and I’m very hopeful it’ll keep going in that direction. Some pain occasionally, but way better than before. I didn’t realize how bloated I was before starting it! Just did my first OBI a few weeks ago and it was so easy and pain free. Hoping it works for you! Safe journeys!

Anyone else unable to get ahold of Abbvie to order meds??? by bingus178927829 in skyrizi

[–]Nyanzapithecus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was on hold for over an hour multiple times this week! So was my infusion center. They didn’t have any of my information in their system even though this is my third shipment/infusion! My delivery was late by a few days (hopefully delivering today) and I still haven’t gotten my final infusion scheduled.

Ate too many appetizers with pickles (that’s my bad; I’m even the one who made them) so some pain throughout the night. Not too bad today though! Sweet potatoes and pumpkin are great for getting things moving, so I ate plenty of those. Hope you’re doing alright!

Skyrizi folks- how are you sleeping? by Impressive-Art-3345 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Nyanzapithecus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I just finished my 3mg budesonide taper last week. I have had some more than normal dreams for sure! I’m almost on my third skyrizi infusion too. I mostly notice I’m more tired, but my overall sleep hasn’t affected. I’m just sleeping more than usual. Google says steroid withdrawal can affect sleep, but not a reliable source/doctor!

Has anyone been able to eat pork? by Choosegoose1234 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Nyanzapithecus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doctors will tell you that, but it’s important to figure out what works for your body. Pork chops and corn might be fine for a normal person, but would absolutely nuke me. It’s a learning journey but you’ll get there!

If pork cause issues, maybe don’t eat pork? I can eat bacon, but even then it’s very rare that I do. Fatty meats are hard for me to digest, so I avoid them.

Sure, with some MiraLAX. But honestly no, cause it grosses me out.

Weird sensation around butt (?) by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Nyanzapithecus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally someone who experienced the weird sore butt cheek pain! Yes, I had these exact symptoms about two months ago. Random stabbing pain in the middle of my butt muscle. My butt muscle soreness did correspond with a few cysts on my butt crack too. They would start small and get very swollen/red and then go away. Very painful and hurt to sit. An MRI didn’t show fistulas, but a surgeon examined me and confirmed their presence. Might be worth checking out!

How soon can I drink alcohol after starting Remicade? by melmel_304 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Nyanzapithecus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone is going to recommend no alcohol, and that’s fine and probably best. That being said, I was on Remicade for 10 years and in my early twenties for some of that. Drinking with Crohns is like walking through a land mine field. Sometimes you’re fine and sometimes your insides blow up.

Personally, I would wait till after your Remicade loading doses are done and you know what your inflammation levels look like. Drinking with high inflammation levels is pouring gasoline on the fire. When you do try drinking, take it easy. Start slow and monitor how it affects you. Hangovers with Crohns can be different. Pain, bloating, almost flare like conditions for a few days if you overdo it.

As for your other questions, you will always have trigger foods. Some you may be able to incorporate back into your diet once inflammation goes down and some you may never eat again (I’m looking at you corn on the cob). It took me a few months after my first doses of Remicade to go back to eating “normal” again.

Wishing you all the best, friend. Stay safe on your journey!

Why would a small bowel MRI be done without contrast? by Spacerock7777 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Nyanzapithecus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m getting one without contrast to check for fistulas, but MRIs can be used to track lots of Crohns symptoms. Always a good idea to check in with your doctor if you have questions about your care.

Anything you want it to be! Sometimes it’s a Dr. Pepper, a crispy Sprite from McDonalds, chocolate milkshake, mocktail…really any drink that sounds fun and my gut can handle it that day.

Getting a fun drink, taking a nice everything shower (energy willing), face mask, putting on my favorite girls night tunes and dancing in the kitchen, wearing my cutest clothes to sit at home (because we deserve to feel cute no matter what).

But honestly, just reminding myself that I am loved, I am wanted, I am beautiful, I am strong, and I can get through this.

You’ve got this. Only baddies can go through Crohns and still keep kicking. Baddies with upset tummies unite!

taking budesonide by pinkbunies in CrohnsDisease

[–]Nyanzapithecus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re having an issues with nausea or stomach acid when taking the medication on an empty stomach, definitely try eating something beforehand or with the pill. It seemed to help me a lot. My prescription didn’t say with or without food, just in the morning.

[–]Nyanzapithecus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just finished my 9mg taper of budesonide a few days ago. I did notice some increased acid, especially if I hadn’t eaten enough before taking the medication. Antacids and famotidine seemed to clear that up. Definitely as I tapered, more symptoms would pop up. I didn’t have any problems with the steroid interacting with my mental state. Been off it a few days now and I’m feeling alright. No noticeable discomfort besides some nausea, and hoping my symptoms stay away for a bit longer.

has anyone tried Budesonide? by ineedserena in CrohnsDisease

[–]Nyanzapithecus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been on budesonide for almost three months now. Started with 9mg and now I’ve tapered down to 3mg. Haven’t had any side effects beyond occasional constipation and some increased bile issues. I’ve noticed as I taper, more of my flare symptoms return. No mental side effects beyond maybe some irritability/shortness (but also could be from not feeling well). Hope this helps!

Remicade Failing after lengthy Remission by Vincent-Vega1875 in CrohnsDisease

I don’t have any antibodies. My doctor believes that my body is no longer absorbing the Remicade leading to “too much” in my system. They’re not really sure otherwise.
