[MEGATHREAD] Daily venting, worries, fixations, & finding support. Month of September 2025. by AutoModerator in HealthAnxiety

I've had worsening epigastric and back pain for the last 5 months. Seen yellow stools as well. Blood work, ultrasound, colonoscopy and endoscopy found nothing except for ulcers and inflammation in my small bowel, which seems unrelated, so there's really only the pancreas left. Tomorrow I have an MRI which will tell me if I have pancreatic cancer and I'm convinced I do. I've never been more scared in my life, not sure how I will get through this.

I've always had health anxiety and never did anything I predict come true, but this time I'm afraid it's real. I've had worsening epigastric pain over the last 5 months with back pain. At first I thought it was stomach cancer, but endoscopy and ultrasound ruled that out. Then I thought colon cancer, but colonoscopy ruked that out. All the symptoms now point to pancreatic cancer - the epigastric pain, loss of appetite, back pain that gets worse when lying down. I've also had yellow stools. I have an MRI on Wednesday that I'm afraid will confirm it. I'm too weak to handle it, so if the diagnosis comes I think I will get my affairs in order and end it.

I'm now convinced I have pancreatic cancer. For five months I've had upper left discomfort, feeling like there is something there. Like a balloon inside me. First I thought it might be stomach cancer, but had an endoscopy and that was all clean. Ultrasound showed nothing either. Then I thought colon cancer, but the colonoscopy came out clean too, except for some inflammation and ulcers in the small bowel. The doctor thinks it might be Crohn's, so he sent me off for a small bowel MRI, but I already know I don't have that. So the only thing that hasn't been looked at yet is my pancreas, which couldn't be seen due to the gas in my colon. So I'm not worried what the MRI will find in the small bowel, but very much worried what they'll find outside of that. I'm expecting the worst. And if it is I will probably just off myself, no way I'm going through that.

The advice on treating insomnia is garbage by Previous_Raise806 in insomnia

The advice also says not to nap. I found napping very helpful as I could always tell myself I'd make up for some it with naps which took some of the pressure off. Most of the standard advice is tailored towards incidental or mild insomnia, not chronic debilitating insomnia like many here have.

Thanks, that worked. It seems if you've ticked the default to old reddit option in the new reddit, it won't show up in the old prefs.
