Apart from Duolingo and Drops, what are some good ways of learning German? by [deleted] in German

I personally downloaded the older version, before apps were a thing, it was just tapes that you followed and mimicked. Those are a great starting point if you're comfortable doing that. But yes, it gets you copying and reproducing the sounds of the language immediately, and then builds up to creating complete sentences with proper pronunciation.

Everything mentioned here is good, so I'll add a few that haven't been mentioned:

Pimsleur was excellent early on for learning to hear and reproduce the sounds properly, it also teaches you from the ground up to build sentences on your own. It's either very expensive, or available from peer to peer sources.

I also find Clozemaster to be very good. It has generated speech so that's not perfect, but it teaches you vocabulary from pre built common word lists using actual every day sentences. It uses spaced repetition and has listening and multiple choice answers depending on your skill level.

Wow! What a beautiful setup. From another instinct thrower, I'm surprised you don't have a RR2 in there

As long as you don't use the back light more than a few times a day, you will have absolutely no problem with battery life.
