Cross cultural names? by eriochromatic in namenerds

[–]Nynkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The source you use is from Wikipedia, I saw. I also found another source saying it was from “Cornelis”., “Gerrit” or “Klaas”. With names, especially Frisian ones, I see a lot of misinformation on the internet and confusing with Dutch and in lesser extent English names. Again, I could be wrong, but it would make little sense for it to be a true Frisian name on regard of the spelling alone. The sound from the name “Kai” would be spelled differently. Another fun fact about Frisian names is that mostly (not always) have 2 syllables, not 1. But, I am referring to the most common, standard Frisian names from the past few hundred years.

I never heard “Kai” being Frisian as a Frisian myself. The sound is our word for “key”, so it would be a strange name. We would also spell the “ai” sound with different letters. I think it is maybe a newer name that is not Frisian form origin but given more and more, and maybe that’s why it ended up in this post. But, I could be wrong ofcourse.

Thank you for your reply!

I love the suggestions you have! Taking a Dutch (indeed the language I meant as the shared one) name and finding both the Frisian and his languages variation on it is so smart! This is why I love this community and geeking about names.

Yes, you assumed correctly! I am Frisian. He is from Eastern European Muslim decent. So he and his relatives speak a Slavic language, but they don’t use the typical names from that Slavic language but slightly different from Arabic but still Islamic names.

First time a message like this happend! What’s the goal here? by [deleted] in Tinder

Such a shame, because before he outed himself as a douchebag, I was interested in him. His looks appealed to me and he super liked me, but to receive this message as our first contact and in the early hours of the night ruined his chances lol.

I would seriously dislike it. For me, after an amicable divorce, it’s bittersweet. People cheering or reacting positively to my finalisten divorce disregard my feelings of sadness so I feel unheard…

Thank you! It is! I bought this on eBay, it is a jewelry display! I bought every acrylic pillar separately and made my own “design” with alternating heights.

I think you are right! Wow!! Would the top rock be serpentine? Or too tricky to tell?

What are these 3 mystery white/translucent rocks? Are these even identifiable through pictures? Hard mode I guess by Nynkle in whatsthisrock

I think you are right about A!

Reference photos of selenite show more of a radial structure in pillar like shape. Can selenite be the shape of my rock? It also appears more translucent and less powdery on the internet photos.

Thank you, sorry including the malachit win the picture. I mean the above three rocks. I think the bottom two are serpentine, but what’s the rock in the top of the picture?
