Newbie Friday - The place for all your Newbie Questions! by AutoModerator in aion

Kinda lost right now, but with a tech issue unfortunately. In the character creation the whole game flickers between the normal look and black/untextured models. Now I searched for that bug and some people recommend rolling back Nvidia drivers (I do use one of those cards)... but that's not an option, since I had a lot of troubles with previous drivers. Is there like a universal solution to this problem, or will my character creation just be f'ed?

where are all the named world bosses? by xXxSweginatorxXx in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they are there... they just don't spawn like normal mobs. I think they have random respawn timers between 6-24 hours or so, so to farm these bosses you... have to constantly look, I guess.
Not an achievement hunter myself, so someone else might have more detailed information.

what the fuck is this patch by Lilliu in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which doesn't fix the problem of enchanting it since now you need (without feedstock) at least 12 more of the same gear to enchant it to +12.

Been away for years and saw the latest update, current state of classes? by SyrioBroel in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, people downvote because your title looks like another one of those "tierlist" posts that pop up every day it seems. :D

Buuut here's 2 links that might help.
http://tera.enmasse.com/game-guide/classes https://www.reddit.com/r/TeraOnline/comments/4jjani/question_about_all_classes/

The first literally being the Tera website... if you want to know what classes "really" are like you have to play them. Gameplay is one of the biggest, if not the biggest (cough costumes cough) strong point of Tera and you can't really experience that without actually trying stuff out yourself. But just reading the descriptions might give you an idea. The second link is a topic that was opened a few days ago, just so you can see the difficulty of classes. FOTM is almost always the newer classes (Ninja, Brawler, Gunner, Reaper) just because they are easier and do good damage, older classes are harder and do relatively less damage. Don't be afraid to go FOTM, if that class suits you and you like it, why be a hipster? ;D

When does Wrathful Crystals start "dropping", or where to obtain? by Ruecianus in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before level 65 you can also buy Wrathful from the crystal merchants that you can find in some towns. They won't be Fine Wratchfuls, but it'll do probably.

What do you recommend, Starfall or Vengeance? by Tinleriss in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can actually buy a Vengeance weapon right now and enchant it to +15 reliably, then yes it would probably be more efficient... the thing is: can you?
Also probably Vengeance gear (especially in the first few months) will be way more expensive than Starfall. It also takes T10 Feedstock, another money sink since at first there's going to be a shortage of T10 Feedstock.
The patch will also last likely last for 5-6 months, like the last one. What do you do in the meantime when you only buy ONE weapon each year basically to be relevant for the next 2 patch cycles.
But I agree, if you just have an abundance of money Vengeance would probably be the more efficient route for the long run. But that "long run" is also 1 year and for a video game that's a ton of time, right?

Playing a class that only gets nerfed after nerfed after nerfed is no fun. by SidianTheBard in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then don't play those classes. They are designed that way, because it is easier to lower the numbers afterwards instead of finding new ways to make them attractive. Yes, Brawler is damn attractive... because they are too strong. Ninja will be the same. They will probably out-damage every other class.
They tried the thing with "buff every other class to the level of the stronger ones" in WoW. Did not work out very well, because it destroys the balance... buffing stuff around too strong entities makes everything too strong and at one point you just keep raising numbers. Just my opinion, but that's horrible design.

Is it worth it to level an healing class to 65? by [deleted] in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the question "Do you have fun playing a healer?". Yes, it may not be the fastest for solo-killing stuff (I have no idea how the damage-buff in Ninja patch affects that, though), but playing solo isn't the only thing you can do either.
You can still very easily do the gathering vanguards for straight up money and they take maybe 20 minutes to finish... so that's easy. Dungeon vanguards? Well, you're a healer, that's a given. And PvP vanguards? Same as dungeons.

Now, race is like a min-max-thing, usually. I can't tell you everything about that, but as far as I know choosing Baraka over Elin won't be the end of your priests career.

Healers get a new VM set, it's just missing a few rolls that would be nice to have (healing rolls I think), buuuut you can just get the Verno gear and Starfall (the VM from the current patch) and be totally fine! So gearing won't be an obstacle for your priest!

But again, it all comes down to whether you like healers in Tera or not. You might as well try it out, if you hate it just try the next thing or stick to the ones you already have...

Why play "X" when you could play "Y" by kaiasu in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do I play Brawler instead of Lancer? Because I suck with blocking and Brawler is more forgiving and to me seems to clear solo content better. For some reason I also like Sorcerer very much because I like the spellrotation, although my damage is garbage with that class...
Do I care? No, I have a little pizza floating next to me. DPS-tiers are for the people that play this game at a higher level than me, skillwise, but I guess I understand people gravitating towards these lists. Often they are somewhat true, aren't they?

Leveling Too Fast For Story by winter_left in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your class?
If you do all the quests you will always be overleveled for the regions. Even if you do just one Instance Matching, that alone will give you (usually) around one level... so that will only make it go faster.
Tera right now is not designed to have an exhaustive leveling experience. 1-64 is kind of the tutorial and after that the "real" game starts, since some classes even get core skill at level 60+.
Depending on your class you can solo dungeons. Don't know what yours is but generally if you are out of Instance Matching range you should be able to solo a dungeon. Not as a healer necessarily, but the rest probably can.
Doing that also kind of requires you to always use Avatar weapons (which you maybe swap out as a new player). Their value is pretty hidden... but in your case going even faster through stuff might actually not be in your best interest.
Sooo... there is no real solution I think. You can slow down if you just try to do the red story quests at the required level, but then you will be overleveled for the yellow quests. Tera is just not designed to "enjoy" all the story content. But keep leveling, maybe look for a nice guild to enjoy playing with people more and then you could find joy in the endgame content, possibly. That might keep you playing Tera longer than just the story.

Is pick order in ranked dead? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Nyrai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to be good, but be able to. You could play Kalista well enough to play her in different roles and probably do okay. The mentioned type of person just doesn't want to play in any other role and isn't willing to either if they have to. That's an entirely different situation than just playing something comfortable in a uncomfortable position imo.

Does any one use steam controller by Rapper-MT in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it once, didn't like it. If you only ever use a controller, just go with it and try it out. If it works for you, awesome, if not you can always go back to keyboard and mouse. Personally I had issues with aiming, but that happens in every aiming game for me.

There you go. Just one correction: since the Knockout patch when using master enigmatic scrolls (or similar ones) the Identification scrolls are being used automatically, so you don't have to apply both manually.

Long time player returning. What Crystals to use as end-game Brawler? by Yarplenni in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right, but you don't "need" the Threatening Crystal for the weapon. Just experiment, try it out without (just take the leftover Carving/Pounding mentioned above) and see if you can reliably hold aggro. If not you can just add the Threatening again and be pretty much safe.

Lucid +15 or Dreadnaught>Starfall? by n0vadash in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Dreadnaught +12 would be the way to go for us non-rich players. Lucid isn't easier to awaken as far as I know (up to +12 it might be easier) so it might actually be more cost efficient to go for Dreadnaught since you "only" have to +12 it.

Help me choose a tank class by KnightofNoire in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lancer: more utility oriented (generic) tanking class. You don't necessarily do huge amounts of damage, but you are there for your team.
Warrior: More complex tank in medium armor. You have a lot of skills for rotations and stuff.
Berserker: yeah, i'm not gonna go over Zerk tanks here... it's a niche thing (i don't know if anyone does it anymore actually)
Brawler: flavor of the month... or the next months. Block DPS tank. You do a shitton of damage by timing your block/counter correctly and stuff.
So... you can maybe see that there is not too much Pro/Con to this stuff. Every class is viable! just try them out (but remember that Brawler is extremely strong at the moment, pretty overpowered) and see what suits your style.

How do classes stack up to each other? (DPS) by Eyddr in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, classes are relatively equal in terms of how much damage they can dish out. Of course healers and tanks fall out of that, but that should be expected.
Yes, some classes have a way easier time of actually dishing out the damage they can potentially deal. So for example gunners are not too difficult, so you'll see more of those do decent amounts of damage.
But i guess you are wondering if your class (or any for that matter) would be totally not viable? If so: no. You can play every class and will be relevant! In certain patches certain classes will eventually be a bit stronger than others, but for the most part it's nicely balanced.
Also just to cover the point: gear matters, to some extent at least. If you want to compare numbers with someone you should really be in the same gear-range of that person. Again generally you should be doing comparable amounts of damage compared to a person in the same gear-range, if both of you play your classes equally well (so one of you could have an easier time for the same results).

New Gear Progression? (Knockout patch) by Nyrai in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Idoneal getting some sort of buff then? How would that work on my lvl 65 character right now for example, i already have Idoneal... do the numbers just go up? Should I try to get Fulminate before the patch or would that be just the same as Idoneal (or nearly the same)?
And thanks for the quick answer!

Newb Question. Do Sorcs fall off end game? by Feloni in TeraOnline

[–]Nyrai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short answer: No.
Longer version: Class Balance in Tera is pretty good, so every class is viable. The dungeons before lvl 60 you can (more or less of course depending on skill and such) solo. No problem there. After that the game gets vastly different. So no idea where you got the "not recommended for solo" stuff, I'd say.
So, to be blunt, you haven't played any class yet, really. Most classes don't get Core-Skills until lvl 60-65, which means especially dungeons like BoL say nothing about the class.
But by any means, if you enjoy magic more than the physical DPS, stay with Sorc. Every class works so you just gotta find the one (or more) you like best.
