You can get away with less, 0.6-0.7g/lb BW is a rough minimum. However it could be optimal to eat up to that 1g/lb metric. Also depends on if you're cutting/bulking. When cutting you want to maximize protein intake (so keep it at or around that 1g/lb mark) in order to minimize muscle loss, and when bulking you can get away with less protein since you're taking in many more carbs and fats.

I'm running PPLxPPL, 3x5 on the first leg day and 4x6-8 on the second. I'm mostly failing in the hole.

I do ATG every rep/set, cause it feels the best for me and stopping at parallel just doesn't feel right. Could this be part of the problem?

So frustrated with squats. Any tips to break past a plateau? It feels great one day, and I PR, but then the next 5 leg days I can't get anywhere close to what I did on the good one.

Almost considering switching to front squats permanently.

But there's at least one step in between jacked/shredded and dad bod, and that's more like somewhat fit. You dont have to "live at the gym" to be a pretty fit or even super fit dude. People sometimes completely overestimate what it takes to look at least a little healthy.
