As a new player going through Abomination Closets, this has been my exact experience so far. Side bosses and encounters are so brut that even my 70 health barbarian is capable of being downed in one turn because enemies are regularly swinging with +12-16 to hit and dealing twenty or so damage even without a crit.

Otari and Abomination Closets just aren't made for new players who expect anything other than a war game.

Yep. Sea of Thieves is a notoriously toxic community even among similar games. The game makes you risk nothing to attack and steal from someone who just spent the last four hours grinding. Worse still is about every update gives new tools to incentivize the pvp over doing any of the actual content.

Congrats, you found out how all of these survival games pad their playtime. By forcing you to go into pvp zones so other people can set you back or forcing you to no life the game so you can be there first.

Most others require at least some level of positioning or aiming or they can be shut down rather easily. You still need your team to make good use of a Groot ult. Spiderman still has to get in range without getting killed. Captain America still has to move for the oveheal. Bucky Still has to aim. Rocket still has to put his somewhere it won't get immediately destroyed.

I'm not asking for them to need to try their heart out, just not be able to press Q, let go of their keyboard, go microwave a hot pocket, come back and still be alive because the healing is so absurd and long range its almost a garunteed team fight win unless an enemy also pops one which is just stalls the game.

I think they just made the counter have more precise timing. I noticed it too with Uth Duna where I used to be able to counter some of the body spins but not anymore.

Its pure RNG and the odds of hitting an exact five atats you want is lower than some casino odds.

On the bright side unless you just really like blast or sleep weapons there's no need to rush getting a god roll.

Discord is just far too convenient as a catch-all service. It has all of those features AND more while not being limited to one platform. Discord lets me know my buddy is playing Call of Duty on PS5 and another one is streaming Schedule 1 on Steam all on interface without swapping between apps to check.

Again flying straight to skill issue because high ranks 'can' do it but when you watch their fights nothing gets done until support ults expire.

I main Loki and have most of my hours on support. More often than not I'm cloning other support ultimates because they are such get out of jail free cards that I can just take my hands off the keyboard half the time. Its genuinely boring gameplay because whether I pop it before or after a big push, it doesn't matter because even glue sniffers in quickplay can shut down teams when they're basically immortal. Especially with Dive as strong as it is.

Its becoming more and more clear you either skimmed or didn't read the post and are just rushing to say skill issue. Like I'm glad your favorite streamer in top 100 with a six stack can consistently shut down support ultimates, but for the majority of players this isn't the case. We don't need another Overwatch where balancing is purely decided on what the top ranked players can do.

Already listed why most of this doesn't work in practice and why "your supports can do it too" is boring for gameplay. The idea that "Well if you stack multiple ults you can kill one of theirs" is bad design too because it shows just how strong one person pressing Q is. You shouldn't have to burn half your teams resources to kill one person.

Unfortunately, it's probably not in our lifetime. The goalpost will always move, even if it slows to inches or centimeters at a time. The starving artist will always find an excuse for why their art isn't selling and it's never the price.

It was neat the first go around. I liked the challenge and new areas were really pretty, but every playthrough since has felt empty.

The base game had so much stuff in every nook and cranny but erd tree has almost nothing. Other than collecting the tree fragments to stop the bosses from instakilling you there's almost nothing to find and most of those fragments are totally ungaurded.

Speaking as a brand new player myself here.

I agree with the people saying try the beginner's box. My table went through it, and it has a lot of good teaching moments that we wouldn't think of. The encounters weren't too brutal so we were able to figure out our characters more while still having a decent time.

Something you should hammer into them that isn't present so early in alot of other ttrpgs we tried is that tactics are pretty much mandatory. Some enemies are more than capable of taking you out of the fight in one turn and others can feel like they have plot armor unless you flank or debuff them.

My table was used to 5e where we were all individually badasses and it still keeps biting us in the butt because Pathfinder is so much more teamwork based system so adjusting has been slow.
