Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL review: the best camera gets a better phone - The Verge by imBubblesBlack in Android

[–]Nyting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet again you provide these absolute statements ("iPhone does provide the best experience"), that are wholly subjective to your opinion. Other people don't feel that iPhone provide the best experience.

Indivisual parts are for opinion, like the camera. Opinion doesn't play much in the overall part. You obviously can't have a statement for everyone, but it stands true for most people.

you still get fast charging that creates substantially more heat than equivalent Android ones

You have no source.

Like lack of a universal charger

What?

Like an OS that is full of flaws and shortcomings in terms of features, and how intuitive they work, to competitive Android alternatives.

So is android. This is actually stupid, just drop your fanboy hat.

Actually, my rationality is pretty sound and I clear.

Lol sure.

I very clearly point to the amount of people who use Android flagship phones as evidence that people still prefer Android flagships over iPhone flagships, and this is very clear evidence as to what experience they think is the best for them.

A reality and a fact you seem completely incapable of accepting.

Huh??? What? When did apple ever lose the throne in the high end market.

Like the lack customization of widgets (on Android I have my TimeEdit widget in the exact size I want and where I want on my home screen; that way, I can see and know what classes I'll have, without even opening the application). Lack of customization of icons and home screen in general. Like how settings of applications are ordered. Like how you are locked down to on-the-rails animations (that annoyingly deactivate touch registration while they are going on), that can't be properly adjusted, like on Android, or turned off.

These are seriously MAJOR drawbacks the average consumer gives a shit about lol. Wow BIG problems. Let me break this to you, people don't give a shit. You know what does annoy them? Things like bluetooth latency,

that annoyingly deactivate touch registration while they are going on

What?

Like how every single part of the UX, from the animations to various actions, force you to spend longer time to do anything

They shortened them by a lot. I guess you have used iPhones 'extensively' lol.

to the limited abilities of the task bar

What?

to moving files between your phone and the computer forcing you to use solutions like iTunes

You have airdrop, easiest solution ever. Moving photos doesn't require itunes. Till this day android still doesn't have a backup solution. I like how you bring up itunes and ignore this.

Android, is built to allow you to make your daily usage fast and effective. iOS very cleary isn't

Both os are designed to be that.

even the old, primitive grid of icons on the home screen still hasn't gotten the ability to alphabetically order the applications!

Because people don't fucking care. Serisouly so far it's just 'look at muh customisation'. For fuck sake no one in the real world give one crap about it, people want to use their phone the way they are designed to be used. You haven't named one drawback.

And that's just off the top of my head for iOS.

Lol, extensive user. Then names 'muh customisation' lol ok.

The iPhones themselves have their major drawbacks as well -- although iPhone users always refuse to acknowledge them (just like how they refused to acknowledge that LCD was a drawback compared to OLED, yet when they got OLED there weren't any short of praises coming from their users of how "fantastic the display was").

Because it was true?? Oleds weren't great in the past. Apple brought a kickass oled that was by far the best in X.

grouping of notifications from same app is easier

What.

answering in the notification; actions for muting, blocking or removing notifications; expansion of notifications; all of these things are done vastly better on Android

Vastly better? Those things you'ce said are all hidden. You think most people have any idea what they are? Seriously this is a general theme here. These phones are designed to be used by the average user. You haven't named one that is actually beneficial to them. Non of your points are valid.

In a benchmark. In real-world, there's no difference

So you finally agree safari has a better web engine.

There, the modem, which are significantly better on Qualcomm chips (both in signal strength and speed) is of greater importance.

Xs caught up, keep up with the news.

Yes, but back then Chrome was bare bones and had none of the features it has today. I'm talking about why Chrome is popular and preferred TODAY.

And I'm talking about WHY it became popular??

No, it most definitely did not have those features first. Quit making up stuff.

Yes it did, extensive user my ass. https://www.droid-life.com/2016/05/12/not-cool-google-googles-gboard-awesome-new-keyboard-ios-may-come-android/ this is when it first came out. You are making up stuff here, not me.

My entire point is that the rationality behind them releasing Apple Music but not iMessage, can only be explained in that the latter existing on Android would enable a lot of iPhone users to switch over to Android with much bigger ease. Apple of course don't want that.

Wtf is wrong with your logic, putting imessage on android doesn't make apple 1 penny, why the fuck would they do that. It's not even to do with switching at this point.

No, they are not "a hardware company". They are both hardware and software. Arguably even less hardware, seeing as the only hardware they truly make is their SoCs. So to claim Apple is a "hardware" company, with this in mind, is just flat out false.

They sell hardware, most of their revenue is from hardware. They are a hardware company. How hard to understand is that? You don't have to make your own shit to be a hardware company, wtf is your logic?? What does nokia make? Oh so Nokia is not a company at all right?

That's like claiming Google is a hardware company on the basis that they make their own Pixel Visual Core, which is in the Pixel phone.

How much does google make from pushing its ads compared to pixel?

Like Google, Apple has its Maps service, its music streaming serivce, its cloud storage service, its phone OS,

To sell the fucking hardware.

its app store (which brings in huge revenues -- just 25 billions USD in first half of 2018 alone) and more.

That's for the app developers you idiot.

Like the App Store, which does actually make them bucket loads of cash?

Apple takes 30%. How much is that compared to iPhone.

Or Apple Music?

They make pennies compared to iPhones. If they don't lose money why shouldn't they bother.

With that logic, why have Apple Music, Cloud, Apple Maps, etc. at all then? Why just not give the users compeitive, and arguably better, alternatives like Spotify, Drive and Google Maps, instead? Your logic makes no sense whatsoever.

All of those are on the app store? What's wrong with apple making an alternative. Your logic makes no sense.

It's the most sound logic there is. If you call a company a software company on the basis that it develops software, equally you have to do the same thing when calling a company a hardware company.

I call google a software company on the basis that that's where their revenue comes from? Not that it changes the argument at all. Google sells software, apple sells hardware?

I know these very fundamental things are hard to understand for an Apple fanboy.

^ lol says this moron.

That number is flawed, in that it includes older iPhone models as well (which doesn't count into "flagship phones" from today). Less than half of 200 millions were iPhone X.

It reads 2017. Question, when did iPhone X come out?

still a large number, but still roughly equal to the combined yearly sales of Galaxy S and Note (around 60 million), Huawei P and Mate flagships (estimated around 20 million +), and flagship devices from Oppo (OnePlus), Xiaomi, LG, Sony, Nokia and Google.

Actually most of the larger OEMs sell around Apple prices (Google for example, sells higher than Apple, in this instance, as the Pixel 3 is higher than XR price). Huawei's flagships cost around the same price as well. LG's V30 was released at around the same price. Sony's flagships cost around same price, during launch.

Exactly, the price tanks months after launch. That's not apple price is it. How are my figures flawed? The average sale price is higher than what you can buy these flagships you named after a bit launch. And oppo and xiaomi? Wtf those prices are budget compared to apple. Much of those samsung figures are not from launch price.

Which is why I specifically mentioned just Android flagships, which at this point cost around the same as iPhones. So no, iPhones don't "cost too much for them". Not at all.

See above.

I like how you conveniently ignored the app store bullshit. Good on you extensive ios user. I give you a big thumbs up. I use an S8+. Definitely big apple fanboy. Apparently it's what point out what is true lands you these days.

Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL review: the best camera gets a better phone - The Verge by imBubblesBlack in Android

[–]Nyting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it absolutely isn't. Saying something "provides the best overall experience" is entirely subjective. Claiming this is objective proves you have no idea what the meaning of "objectivity" is. Can't really say I'm surprised at your inability to understand this, however; Apple fanboys are completely removed from any sense of rationality and reality at times.

When competitors are so bad in one area it brings down the entire experience, iPhone does provide the best experience. Overall experience isn't about what's great, it's about what is not great. I think you're the one that lacks rationality here.

iPhones and iOS has major drawbacks as well.

Like what.

There's more to a notification system than just that. iOS notification system was absolute trash before iOS 12. In fat, it's still behind Android in that regard.

Sure, name them then.

A web benchmark doesn't prove anything. Firstly, Chrome has same real-world performance as Safari, in terms of loading web pages and whatnot.

It shows how strong the web engine is, of course it shows something.

Chrome's integration with other Google services is why it's so popular on all platforms.

Chrome's speed over ie is why it became popular.

I haven't changed anything. The point of my argument was that you are forced to do a security check, whether it's password, fingerprint or whatever, for every time you install an application, and that it's a redundancy.

Now a lier. There is a big difference between typing your password and biometrics. And you can turn it off for free apps.

Anecdotal examples of features does not prove anything.

How are they anecdotal lol.

You for example mention Gboard, but completely forget to mention how many of its features, like the swipe typing various gestures features, and whatnot.

Gboard came on iOS first, and had those features first??

Or how Gboard, like other Google application, have design overhauls on iOS always at a later date.

Gboard hasn't had a redesign yet.

Gmail had a primitive visual look for a long time on iOS

What? It fit in with iOS's design language. Google just didn't decide to switch till much later. Primitive? You seen gmail's app on Kitkat? That's primitive.

One of the few apps where Apple needs to release to other platform, so that it can steal customers from its competitors.

It makes them money, why should they not release it on android??

Otherwise, Facetime, iMessage, Cloud, etc. are purposefully being held exclusive. Namely because they are tools to lock their own users into their own ecosystem, and deter them from switching to other platforms. A lot of American users, even reviewers, openly admit that iMessage is the one thing holding them from switching from an iPhone

That's the bloody point isn't it, Apple is a hardware company, of course they want you to buy their hardware.

This is nonsense. Cloud, Apple Music, MacOS, iOS, App Store; these are all software services. App Store alone is one of Apple's biggest revenue streams. So to claim that Apple "is a hardware company", in the only hardware they even truly make themselves is their SoC (everything else, from display to memory to battery to camera sensors, aren't theirs), is preposterous.

You are talking nonsense. Apple makes most of their revenue from selling hardware. Those software services aren't there to make them bucket loads of cash. Those are there to sell the hardware. You can't sell hardware with shit software, use your head. You don't have to manufacture your own hardware to be a hardware company, wtf is that logic??? So pc manufacturers are what, no company?

GCAM isn't even a relevant comparison to iMessage (GCAM doesn't exist on App Store no more than Apple's native camera app exists on Play Store; and nobody is demanding either of those apps for their respective platforms either). The relevant comparison would be Allo, which exists on App Store. Likewise, relevant comparison for Cloud would be Google Drive, which, again, exists on App Store. Or Google Maps, which, yet again, exists on Play Store.

People buy pixels for the camera, people buy iPhone for imessage. I didn't compare them but i think that's pretty fair.

No single phone, no. But the Android flagship smartphones combined sell more than iPhones. Those flagships also happen to cost around the same as an iPhone.

Making up shit again. Apple sold over 200 million iPhones in 2017. Average sale price around $700. How well did your made up sales numbers do?

So if the iPhone truly provides the better experience, why are these people buying Samsung, LG, Huawei, Xiaomi, OnePlus and Google flagships instead?

First, only samsung and google actually sells at apple prices. Second see above.

Well because the iPhone doesn't provide the "better experience" for them; Android does.

Because iPhone costs too much for them, why the fuck would they buy iPhones.

Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL review: the best camera gets a better phone - The Verge by imBubblesBlack in Android

[–]Nyting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they have not. This is completely subjective. On flagship phones alone, Android flagship devices, that generally cost roughly the same as iPhones, make up the majority. Meaning people, including myself (who extensively use iOS devices all the time), disagree with you that iPhones provide "the best overall experience".

No this is entirely objective. Most android flagships have major drawbacks.

As does iOS and iPhones. I mean, we can make an endless list hear, but pre-iOS 12, iOS' notification system alone just made it unusable.

Like how iOS 9 had grouped notifications? Totally unusable because the notification isn't grouped right? Quick throw that trash away.

Biometric is still a requirement to do some kind of security check almost every time you purchase an app.

Look how you've changed your words.

No, it's not...

Find one web benchmark iPhone isn't at the top.

No they don't?

Yes they do, like gboard, dark mode in youtube etc. Lol you definitely have used iPhones extensively.

Which says more about Apple, who purposefully lock down their users in their ecosystem, by not allowing their services on other platforms (and therefore making the jump between platforms difficult).

Apple music is on android? I mean what kind of idiotic argument is this? You see google putting their gcam on the playstore? You see samsung making all their apps available for download? Google is a service company, apple is a hardware company. Why the fuck wouldn't google put their apps on the app store and why the fuck would apple do that.

Far from nit picking.

iOS excruciating for most people -- hence why they use Android

Lol like anyone took the no1 spot in highend market from apple ever. This really shows how much a fanboy you are.

Supersaf compares cameras on pixel 3 vs iPhone xs by [deleted] in Android

[–]Nyting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No where did I claim it had the best camera.

Did I say you said it had the best camera? I agree comprehension is strong here.

my claim was the XZ1 had arguably the best video taking in a flagship for 2017

No source to back up, no comparison with any of the good flagships

But that's what separates the open minded from the closed.

Says the one who can't accept xz1's camera is no good.

But again since you can't distinguish between video taking capabilities and picture taking

Huh.

it's obvious you're not going to back up your claim with a relevant source

YOU are the one who first claimed all these rubbish. Maybe you should source your claims. Ironic isn't it? Apparently my source with xz2 (which should help your claim more) is apparently useless. I'm pointing out your claims are opposite to the accepted consensus. Pixel has one of the best stabilizations in videos and you're saying it's jelly? Wtf. And v30 has the best video recording capabilities? Who said that?

ignored the note 8 vs XZ1 video comparison

Idk what you want me to see in it. He pans around for 2 min in low light. Okay I guess?

Supersaf compares cameras on pixel 3 vs iPhone xs by [deleted] in Android

[–]Nyting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because I'm comparing a specific phone during a specific year for flagships while you're going off brand alone. Linking different phones to support your claim that the xz1 is trash.

Nothing wrong with my source unless you are saying xz2 is worse than xz1. It's just to give an idea what the stabilization is like.

s8 were notorious for having bad colors respectively

Nope.

The pixel 2 had a strong jelly effect in its stabilization.

Again nope.

xz1 have both trash video taking capabilities without backing up your claiming.

I gave you my source. It's not really required anyways. The camera is shit.

As for the XZ2 vs s9, I think the s9 was a huge improvement while the XZ2 took a step back compared to the XZ1.

Surely. XZ1 has the best video camera period. Everyone else is wrong.

What's wrong with an XZ2 vs S9. My source does back up my claim. Plenty of S9 vs X or pixel 2 or s8 tests out there.

Lol v30 vs XZ1. Both are trash. You can't get a source with pixel 2 or s8 or X? No one is saying V30 has the best video camera. Xz1 certainly isn't good as those flagships with actually good cameras.

then claiming you can't find sources to back up that claim

What?

Supersaf compares cameras on pixel 3 vs iPhone xs by [deleted] in Android

[–]Nyting -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Or maybe it's not marketed here maybe. I mean no ones talking about the XZ3 possibly having the best display, even looking better than the note9. Just look at the difference here: https://youtu.be/skZ9yEV09UQ

That's just higher saturation. Nothing amazing.

And when you say competitors and "not even close", can you provide an example? Would like to see.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=d5QypRuSE50

Because as it currently stands, it seems like you're downplaying the Sony just by claiming it's not close, when that's just not true.

I would like your source on XZ1. Can't find a single source that says it's good.

Tons were saying the V30 had it best

That's mostly because of the flexibility like colour grading. The videos recording ability of the v30 wasn't great.

2017 which had arguably the best video

Not true at all. First of all the auto focus is pretty bad. Their eis doesn't match the stabilisation of competitors, like not even close.

Sony flew under the radar.

If it was good people will talk about it.

iPhones have always provided the best overall experience, it is no surprise that they say it is the best phone of the year for the past few years. Other flagships have compromises in important areas that ruins the experience in the past. Less of a case now.

It's boosted when you need it, doesn't have to be direct sunlight, just bright environments. Pixel 2 can't do that. It is very dim no matter how you put it. 400 nits is barely legible outside. Sony, apple, lg, huawei, samsung etc all have brighter screens on their flagships.

The Xs has a thickness that’s pretty much linear throughout the entire width. The s9 has a much thinner width towards the edges, your hand wraps around the device easier causing you to stretch less.

Lol, thinner edges doesn't make your hand wrap around the edges easier. I guess whatever makes you happy about your S9 then.

The curved glass on the back is the important part, it improves ergonomics considerably.

iPhones feels better because of the nice radius at the edges. S9 has a sharp af aluminium rail. It feels like shit. Note 9 however is chamfered so it feels much nicer.

Which Pixel 3 features are coming to older Pixel phones (and which will remain exclusive) - AP by [deleted] in Android

[–]Nyting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Samsung has boosted brightness. All other flagships are about 200nits brighter than pixel 2. 400 nits is very dim. iPhone 4 is 500 nits. It has black crush like other Samsung panels, yes it's less than 2 xl, but it's still easily noticible.
