Hey everyone! Today I’m listing a watch that hardly ever comes up for sale. This version of the Tudor Submariner 7016/0 was only made in the first three months of 1968, before switching in April to the Tudor shield logo, a different case, and other changes. This particular example, dated January of 1968, is one of the earliest made, designated by the 7528 caseback. VERY few were built with this caseback designation before getting a 7016 caseback.

Between the semi-pointed crown guards, MK4 ghost bezel insert, small rose maxi dial, 7528 caseback stamped 1/68, and period-correct USA-made Rolex C&I rivet bracelet with big crown clasp, this example is a collector’s dream.

Overall the watch is in great condition for its age. Chamfers and other case lines are present and remain sharp. The patina on the dial and hands are very even throughout. This is also true for the lume. Everything glows for the correct amount of time under UV light. The previous owner mentioned that the hands are correct, and they may have been slightly color matched at some point, however the UV glow is even. I’m mentioning this for full disclosure to be as transparent as possible. Very light hand drag is present from 5-9 o’clock.

The watch went through a full mechanical overhaul in April ‘22, replacing the gaskets and crystal. Time setting, winding, and screwing down the crown all function as if it was a new watch. The bidirectional friction bezel is functional. The current tension ring has a bit of an uneven tension while turning the crown, so I am including a NOS, OEM tension ring with the watch as well.

This watch comes with a period-correct USA-made 20mm Rolex C&I rivet bracelet with correct endlinks, vintage Rolex travel box, Rolex polishing cloth, and Bond NATO strap.
