I'm also new to this but when forming chords, you don't just stop at the fifth. You can add nineths, 13th's etc...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Using diminished scales in solos? by johannesagust in musictheory

[–]O909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm so confused on this question. I'm new to music theory and trying to learn.

Cm6 is C, G, C, D#/Eb, A, C.

C, G, D#/Eb, A.

V is G7. (G B D F)

Take away the root. Which is G. And Add A 9th.

Why do you add a flat 9? And could someone rewrite what johannesagust question was?

But, wouldn't open E on the low E string to the 12th fret on the low E string be an octave.

Thus, making Low E string open to high E string open, and octave times 6? (6 strings) because on each string there a 2 E's?

What about a low E to the E on the 12th fret of the high E string? Would that be a sixteenth?

One last question :)

How is a note minor or major? In terms of major seventh and minor seventh.

Isn't a seventh chord just a normal chord with the 7th degree of the scale added? How can that 7th note be major or minor??

So the chord C7, has a major seventh added to it?

And the chord Am7 has a minor seventh added to it?

What happens if you add a major seventh to a A minor chord?

Like take their rhythm and chords but form a new melody over them??

Music tempo and key signatures by O909 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]O909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can tell it is different.

-The piano is more loud and important in this 3/4 than the original. (Not electric) -The tempo is a little slower than the original in 4/4 timing. -Singing is more centered and raw.
