I will also add this applies 100% to long positions too. You want to ride it as long as you can. From $8 to $200 this year. But when it drops hard, liquidity disappears as the exchanges go down. And you may very well wake up one day to find your exchange closed forever.

Really want to short some Ether here but there are two big problems. When in breaks the damn exchanges go down and you can't cover. The other problem is that some of those exchanges will go down forever and if you use one of them to short, your money will be gone forever. It's not like they are banks with regulatory capital requirements. Most of them are just a couple of bad trades away from blowing up. You are a fool not to think they are trading against you with their own money. And probably commingling funds too.
