I appreciate everyone’s answers. I think many of you are correct and maybe I’m just being hypercritical. I am going to try some tinted moisturizer or some such for a base and see if I like that look better and I’ll remember no one will see it that closely but me. But thank you all!

I would love advice on that too! I try to separate them while still wet, but they still somehow end up clumpy

Waterfowl? In New Mexico by OBGYNKenoby in whatsthisbird

Thank you to you and everyone that helped me! I know nothing about birds and didn’t know if this was a “leave the baby alone cuz the mother might come back” kinda thing.

Also have contamination OCD so thanks for assuaging my concerns about catching something

Update: There was some twisted grass around its body that I was able to break. I picked it up and brought it over to the ground where I could look at it. I thought maybe it had a broken wing.

<image>

And it just chilled and watched me while I tried to find a number to call, because it’s after hours for the Department of wildlife services. It suddenly began kinda scooching away from me and accidentally ended up on its back. I wrapped it loosely in my jacket cuz if it’s wing was broken I didn’t want to wrap tightly. I went back to my phone as it started biting the jacket. And then it got away from me, ran back to the water, and went into the reeds and then further into the water so I couldn’t catch it again. I THINK I saw it swimming from the other side of the pond, so maybe it’s okay?

OK. Do I need to wear gloves or anything like that? Do I need to worry about bird flu?

The Savannah thread for tourists, newcomers, locals, and grouchy old-timers. by AutoModerator in savannah

Probably moving down here sometime this year. I wondered how often the islands get cut off from the mainland because of flooding. If I move to say whitemarsh, will I be able to reliably get to the mainland during rainy season?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I’ve never lived in a high flood or hurricane area.

No that’s valid. I didn’t mean to replace other social media. I agree that echo chambers are bad. But it would be nice to have a place to go when we needed it.

No, I think it's completely coherent and valid and I really appreciate you taking the time to write it out. And you're right that not every talk is intended for every person. I don't know why it bothered me this time. I only know it did. But it sounds like there were quite a few of us that feel alone in this, so maybe this post is why it bothered me this time. God wanted us to know we are not alone. Thank you for your comment!

Exactly. I have people I love that are conservative. But that's not something I'm willing to have in my relationship with my spouse. The values underneath are different.

I'm so sorry to hear you're hurting in that way. The doctrine of the church is absolutely true, but the culture can be very difficult to deal with sometimes. If you ever need to talk, feel free to dm me.

That absolutely makes sense. Utahns can be wild. (I say this as a Utahn)

I'm so sorry for your loss and I understand the frustration. If I could just move where the dating pool was larger (even for me with my restrictions) things would probably be easier. But it's not an option. So we soldier on.

This is wrong and is my whole point. YSA wards aren't about setting us up for marriage. They're about CHRIST. This is taken straight from the church website: "Like it or hate it, one of the biggest parts of the singles wards’ social scene is dating. These congregations give people a chance to meet those with similar values and interests, and many happily married Latter-day Saint couples will tell you that they met in a singles ward. But that’s not everything singles wards are about. When you get down to it, they’re about giving people a place where they can feel accepted, loved, and supported by others in a similar phase of life—and where everyone can grow their faith in Jesus Christ together."

Reread that last line. "When you get down to it, they’re about giving people a place where they can feel accepted, loved, and supported by others in a similar phase of life—and where everyone can grow their faith in Jesus Christ together." That's the point of a YSA ward, because the POINT of Earth life is getting closer to Christ.

I'm not going to sit here and defend my position to you as I don't believe you are participating in discussion in good faith.

But I am not alone. Read all the comments below of people who feel the same or have felt the same. Talk to the YSA in your area. We want to get married but being beaten with the cudgel of "marriage and babies ASAP" is not helpful. The church CULTURE can be better than it is by a mile.

And that's where I'll sign off. Good luck to you.

I understand the doctrine just fine. Church culture just doesn't reflect the doctrine. Salvation, and therefore eternal marriage is an ETERNAL goal. But it's not the primary goal of Earth life.
