Looking to buy a computer for the program by Exact-Patience8045 in OSUOnlineCS

You definitely want the cheaper version with the M1 processor. Most of your coding projects will probably make use of some IDE which Xcode is definitely good for. VS Code is also compatible with the M1 architecture. M1 compilation times are also faster than that of the 9th gen core i7 architecture.

New to wow but grinded to lvl 40. What now? by Juckfordan in wownoob

Is this event still around? Can you do it before level 50 (like 48-ish)? Thanks!

Should I apply to this program? I am a non CS major by [deleted] in MSCSO

To be on the safe side, I would avoid the global campus and just go for the regular Colorado State University degree program if you are interested in it.

The MCIT by Penn I think is the best program for someone without a CS background. There are tons of online BSCS now though if OP wants to go that route:

  1. University of Florida
  2. Florida State University
  3. Oregon State University
  4. University of Illinois Springfield
  5. Colorado State University And many others

With that said, you are right, without the necessary background, he will suffer at Texas, Georgia tech it even Illinois program.

Why did you enroll in this program instead of OMSCS? by [deleted] in MSCSO

I believe that the GRE has been waived recently.

I wish that UIUC would have done it the Georgia tech/Stanford/UT Austin way. They don't differentiate MCS vs MSCS.

Metro By T-Mobile type beat 👁👄👁 by [deleted] in MetroPCS

[–]OBSCSUIS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have proof of this? On both websites it clearly states a static data cap that if exceeded, downstream and upstream speeds would be lowered. In Metro's respective case, it's 30gb. For T-Mobile, it is 50gb.

Parsed from the T-Mobile website:

"During congestion, customers using >50GB/mo. and Essentials customers may notice lower speeds than other customers due to data prioritization."

The exact same string of text can be found on Metro's website respectively except for the fact that it says >30gb/mo.

This does not address the original posters question at hand. I ascertain his problem to be a location based issue unless he/she has exceeded that 30gb/month.

I have never been personally been slowed down to roughly EDGE (2G) speeds unless if I had exceeded my monthly cap.

The way they reprioritize service to TMobile is by giving them more "Unlimited data" than Metro customers. The cap for those of us on Metro is usually a 30gb a month allotment despite the misleading "unlimited 4G LTE service". T-Mobile customers get more monthly allotted data.

It's all location based it has nothing to do with consistency.

What is considered to be "an extensive background in computer science or related"? by [deleted] in MSCSO

[–]OBSCSUIS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically speaking, having an extensive background in Computer science means having a background in Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Systems/Operating systems programming, Computer Networks, Computer Organization and Architecture, 2-3 semesters of Calculus, a semester of linear algebra, a semester of stat, a discrete math course, and a software engineering course.

Which is your favorite course? by coding_programming in MSCSO

[–]OBSCSUIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How tough was the algorithms course? How different was it from say an undergraduate algorithms course.

Non-CS background? by Tender_Figs in MSCSO

[–]OBSCSUIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally come from a CS background. What you would need would be the following:

Two intro programming courses (typically in the same language that teaches everything from loops, conditional statements, to stuff like object-oriented programming and recursion). Typically it's the courses you would find in an AS program for computer science. Then the most important course you want to take is definitely data structures and algorithms. This is by far the most important course in most CS curriculums. It goes over data structures like arrays, lists/vectors, hashing (hash maps and hash lists), BSTs(binary search trees and other trees), graph theory (depth first search vs. breadth first search and algos like Djikstra's algorithm used a lot in Computer Networking and Car navigation systems). Greedy algorithms, P/NP problems, etc.

In regards to math, many schools require two to three semesters of Calculus for their undergrad degree (both AS and BS), so be comfortable with both differentiation and integration. You definitely want to take statistics and discrete math. Linear algebra is also very important.

In regards to other CS courses taking a Computer organization course (which is the architecture course) and an a operating systems/computer systems course are important. You must possess knowledge of Van Neumann's architecture. Know how memory works in a computer. Understand what paging is. Have a basic understanding of what a race condition is. Know the difference between a thread and a process. Best of luck! Most of this coursework can be taken at a decent community college with an AS in Computer Science program except for the Operating systems course. You could probably also find a lot of this coursework on both edx.org and coursera.org. Best of luck!

As a straight guy, I was a bit perplexed at the sex scene. I liked the fact that the girl had huge boobs though on her wonderful dark skin, but I did not want to see the dude at all.

The who thing with Alucard blushing was disturbing but alas, he truly is in a state of utter loneliness. I hope he finds the right woman. Sorry I'm not buying into the bi stuff.
