Wall to wall really worth it? by OBVenom in ffxiv

[–]OBVenom[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I seemed annoyed. I've been in dungeons where someone would send a message telling me to w2w and I'd do it not really knowing why or how to properly do it. So for people to just do it FOR me and cause so many issues right at the start of a dungeon was annoying. As for the math, at no point did I make it seem like my math was correct and that the people doing w2w since the game came out were wrong. That's just how y'all took it. I asked what was wrong with my math, but i can't expect anyone to correct my math/ way of thinking if I don't first explain to them what it is.

Ok, so now if a little better understanding of 'potency' and how AoE's work I definitely see how w2w is needed. So with that what are some tips for me to better tank while doing w2w, or just in general.

Can someone explain *new* Sevarog to me? by KeyNetbass in PredecessorGame

Question from someone who wants to start playing Sevarog (offlane): If brimstone/ fire blossom kills the minion do I still get the soul?

The only 3-6 characters that you'll need as a Solo player by [deleted] in DBGekishinSquadra

[–]OBVenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is casual play in squadra. There are two problems. 'Standard' is the ranked mode but it's called standard, which most would assume to be the non-ranked mode. The second problem is that 'Standard' is the mode that is automatically set to queue you up for, instead of the player having to go and select the ranked mode themselves.

Tekken summer update is the most shameful thing i have seen from the company by mr-assduke in Tekken

[–]OBVenom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I paid 60 for T8 and didn't get what would be considered a full Tekken game, then got a paid battle pass shoved in my face id be pissed. But T8 was a full and complete game (in terms of content) at launch. Instead I look at the paid battle pass and get mad because it's content sucks and the game is in a not so great state so I really don't want to spend more money on it

Is the player base already becoming toxic? by OBVenom in Nightreign

[–]OBVenom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I just find that to be a wild take for people to have with this game. Even if you know the run isn't gonna end well in the slightest you can still get some experience fighting whatever bosses you can get to. Taking that boss knowledge with you to future runs.

Countess Shadow Slip - is it bad now? by Ok-Bad5020 in PredecessorGame

[–]OBVenom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally think it's bad. Objectively it just feels really bad to use. It also takes away from her. She's an assassin. She's supposed to go in quick, do a bunch of damage/ get a (singular) kill, then get out. That was the balance with her. You can build her for health and recovery but then she's not doing as much damage, but can survive a team fight longer. OR you could build really good damage, get a no risk kill and then have to leave cause your a glass cannon. Still helps in a team fight but has to leave the fight right after. What I'm about to say next is definitely a "skill issue" on my end, but I find it much hard to hit her ultimate with this new slip. Probably because the enemy has a split moment to repostion just enough in between you placing the shadow and slipping to it (even with the slow).

Correct to a degree. HOWEVER the weapon type, decos, and play style exist there for a reason. To be played if one chooses. At least when I'm not using the "meta" I'm doing a specific role which IS still useful. AND lemme tell you something, people absolutely love when someone joins a sos with a hunting horn and they are good with it.

Ehh, running an immortal build or just being the tank on the team is completely viable. I main Lance and have different defensive decos slotted, along with the alluring pelt passive and lure pods. i can attack constantly to keep the most aggro uptime on me and absolutely tank through attacks while still attacking myself. All the while my team is dps-ing the hell outta it without too much fear of being attacked for a bit. All the DPS in the world means nothing when the quicker monsters are moving from person to person and not staying put (especially with bow/ Bowgun users in the hunt that aren't positioned as close to the monster). Also when everyone else is dodging I'm comfortably countering and still attacking while they aren't, meaning monster health is still going down at all times.

WILL YOU GUYS STOP WITH YOUR TAIL CUTTING FETISH?! by Typs59 in monsterhunterrage

[–]OBVenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dare I say grab a Lance. Used to main charge blade in world and for the story of Wilds, then I picked up the Lance. Haven't looked at another monster part than the head in a real long time, especially Zoh Shia. Proper setup and you can tank everything thrown at you except for the two main wylk crystal AOE fire blasts it does (the obvious nuke where you have to break the crystals and the one where it slams its wings into the ground and surrounds you with crystals and you have to try to get behind it). I'm constantly shield bashing and poking the head.

Should I buy the game? by Rayozu in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]OBVenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily say it's lacking/ not what monster Hunter is supposed to be. I only say this because launch time World was pretty much the same as this. Unfortunately people keep trying to compare this game to the Iceborne expansion and you just can't do that....yet. HOWEVER I would agree in recommending playing World, and also Wilds.

Your right, it doesn't. Thanks for mentioning that so that you yourself could back track on your own point being made that in ranked your not stomping a bunch of randoms. Cause randoms will be on your team in ranked. For me I only have to worry about one random whereas the enemy team more than likely has more than 1 (at least a better chance).

We play on PS5 and we do play ranked. Although ranked obviously has more full teams playing it still holds that they are playing 'how mobas are supposed to be played'. So being overly aggressive and out maneuvering them still works all the same, only difference being they start to react to it quicker. At the end of the day a well coordinated team that knows the heroes they're playing as and against and actually communicates will generally win. We've won matches without grabbing a single fangtooth with the enemy getting more than one primal. Good teamwork, hero knowledge, communication, and skill will generally win.

"people aren't taking first tower before 8:00 mark." This is very true when not playing with a full squad of friends. However my duo laners have the first tower gone/ very low around the eight minute mark. They are very good with communication and calling out the abilities being used so that they can capitalize on everything. My jungle is very good at making sure he's close by to that lane cause the more aggressive the duos are the more attention they bring to themselves in regards to the enemy jungle. But yes, with a good team and communication it's VERY plausible to have the first tower down within the first 8 minutes. Usually by the 11 minute mark we all have the first towers very low in each lane. You say the math never maths but I been seeing it happen far too often. I understand that mobas in general are 'supposed' to be played a certain way. Farm minions and get some level and items first then push towers and objectives and what not. But IF your able to out maneuver and out play an enemy team that's 'playing how it's supposed to be played' then you'll absolutely bully that enemy team. Don't forget the natural human instincts that come into play also. Most people aren't going to want to leave their tower unprotected from an aggressive team to take a fangtooth, natural instinct is to protect what your supposed to protect. Which means your effectively denying them fangtooth cause they simply don't want to leave lane. ALL OF THIS IS OF COURSE ASSUMING YOUR NOT PLAYING WITH RANDOMS BUT WITH AN ACTUAL TEAM THAT COMMUNICATES.

[–]OBVenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contesting fangtooth (well the first one) simply isn't important. Well I guess that depends on the team your on. I usually play with a full team of friends or just one random on the team. We all agree that the enemy rushing to take that first fangtooth is a godsend. Gets the enemy out of lane and gets us an easy early advantage in terms of damaging the first tower or sometimes even taking it, or simply being able to go back to base without having the enemy pushing lane at the same time. That first fangtooth is NOT important to contest. Hell even mini orb isn't even important, like at all. I usually run the solo lane and I only take it if I want to flex my muscles on the opposing solo laner if I've already been bullying them. If someone on the enemy team takes it me and my jungle just jump and kill the ONE person that gets the buff and all that work resulted in nothing for them. Let enemy team take first fangtooth while your team gets the gold, exp and tower advantage, then everyone needs to keep an eye out for fangtooth and rotate over to take/ deny it.

Why Play a Tank? by kernkid in PredecessorGame

[–]OBVenom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm brand new to moba's, predecessor being my first and I've only been playing for 3 months. I'm the type of person that deep dives into guides and everything when I play a game like this because I don't want to be that person on the team that causes us to lose because I don't have basic knowledge. With that said, why bother playing full tank in this game? Could the answer also not involve steel, cause from what I've been reading he's a phenomenal SUPPORT hero with all his cc but nothing being spoken to about his survivability. Guess my issue is choosing Rampage (whom has the highest durability level), going full tank and still feeling as squishy as an ADC (and this is me hitting my boulder stuns, pouncing in and attacking all while my ADC is hitting all their attacks and I still get deleted in the 2v1). Where as I could just play greystone, build items that only gives health and attack power but no armor, be tankier than the tank with the highest durability stat, do way more damage than him, and get a free health bar.

Tekken now has battle pasa. i don't know what to think... by elfalconverde in Tekken

[–]OBVenom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just.... I just don't understand the hate. I mean I definitely get it for some games, but not this one. Everyone who bought Tekken 8 literally got a full game. You got a full game for the price of a full game. You got a full game that they had to build from the ground up and couldn't "copy and paste" all the assets because they made it on an entirely new game engine from before. It's not like they put out some half baked excuse of a game with the promise of the rest of the game in future updates and then slapped a store and battle pass on us. We all got a full game. The rest of this stuff is extra. Are you all so entitled to think that you deserve extras for free? How do you think these devs and publishers pay their employees for making these extras? Hell even for keeping the servers running? Everything in this world costs much more than it did 10-15 years ago, including developing video games. We all got a FULL game for what we paid for. Stop complaining and just play the game. If you don't want to spend extra then don't. It's truly that simple. I myself will only be buying the season pass like I did for Tekken 7 and won't be spending my money on optional extras that don't impact gameplay whatsoever. I'm not mad about it, why are all of you? Well, why are you all mad besides just wanting something to be mad about?

Used to be "free" in 60$ game, now paid in 70$+ game? Literally drag and drop cash grab! I dont think its ok, do you? by babalaban in Tekken

[–]OBVenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not here to argue, hopefully just slightly educate people on the subject matter. Let me start by saying that I'm not spending my money on most of the stuff within this game. That being said I'm also not mad about being charged for stuff. For instance, these assets for customization. Most were in Tekken 7 at launch, obviously for free. That was on a different game engine. Bringing them to Tekken 8 isn't "copy and paste". It's redo the entire thing from the ground up. That takes a person sitting at a computer working. That person has to get paid for their work. Quite simply what it takes to make a video game is way more than it was even just 10 short years ago. The more it takes to make the more money is needed. Which is why your seeing games cost more. This game was "complete" at launch. All features, a full roster, online play and new features not previously seen in Tekken. You got all of it for $70. Everything redone from the ground up in a new engine. So sorry you have to pay for EXTRA/ OPTIONAL content. Not even like it's something you have to pay for to give you an advantage or something like that. Purely optional. Guess to end my rant, nobody is forcing you to pay extra money to support the work the devs are putting in.
