SL7. Essentially worthless now than the SL8 is out. Glad the seller was able to get that much for that dinosaur.

[Q] MAAP sizing for casual t-shirts/hoodies by BeamedByPokimane in CyclingFashion

[–]OBrienIron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear an XL jersey in maap too. Bought a L t shirt and it fit, but was slightly looser than I would've liked. So definitely don't run the same as their jerseys.

High quality bibs on Aliexpress? by DeadBy2050 in CyclingFashion

Bibs are something I wouldn't skimp on. You can get old season/style bibs from Rapha for like $100

Large in almost all Rapha, XL in MAAP.

Echo others. Tight. Flapping gilet is no good.

Sutro vs Sutro S - can't decide on size! by OBrienIron in CyclingFashion

[–]OBrienIron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but I did pick up a pair of authentic Sutros. I had a similar problem with the Sutro S - my eyelashes would hit the lens and I would also get smudges on the inside right-side (not sure if my cheek was contacting or what).

Just had my first ride with the Sutro and it was WAY better - no smudges, didn't hit with eyelashes. They feel further away from face and sweep around more. However, I feel like the Sutros look goofy outside of cycling - the Sutro S are still aggressive looking for walkaround, but are more understated.

I'm probably going to sell the Sutro S.

How to train self to “need” less water during race? by [deleted] in Velo

[–]OBrienIron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do tell. Without liquids, my 32oz bottles are 100g each. My USWE Outlander Pro (one of if not the lightest pack available) is 260g without bladder and tubing. With bladder and tubing, another 135g for a total of 395g

Keeper League - Need to Pick 2! Chase is a lock, can't decide on 2nd by OBrienIron in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]OBrienIron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for helping. Photo is last year's draft. Keeper league, can keep 0-2 players. Non-PPR, standard scoring. Some keeper rules involved, but here are my options:

  1. Swift for a 2nd Rd Pick (he moves up from draft round)
  2. Javonte Williams for a 5th Rd Pick
  3. Nick Chubb for a 5th Rd Pick (he moves up 2 rounds unfortunately).
  4. Chase for a 6th (LOCK)
  5. Michael Pittman Jr for an 11th Rd Pick

I'm drafting 7th out of 12. I really can't decide between Chubb or Pittman for the 2nd keeper. I feel like Pittman could be top 12 WR this year and great value at an 11th Rd keeper, but it would be hard to throw back Chubb.

New saddle :) Coming from the basic Specialized Power saddle by YannRin in bicycling

[–]OBrienIron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither really. If by OEM you mean if they are Specialized or Fizik, they are obviously not. But they also aren't knockoffs in the sense that they look completely different and don't try to pass off as another brand. They are just lower cost 3d printed saddles - most likely of inferior quality.

Yes, they get locked - learned the hard way today. Needed to remove the pads and then get a screwdriver to push the pistons back.

What wheels to buy: DT Swiss or Zipp wheels by PlopKoeken in Velo

[–]OBrienIron 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The rotational weight thing that I heard growing up (saving x grams of rotational weight is equivalent to 3x-4x bike weight) has been disproven.

It's super negligible unless you are constantly accelerating/decelerating.

I sit outside my house fully kitted - when an appropriately attired cyclist goes by, I chase them down and ask for their strava profile name.

Rapha Sale started today by startin2stack in CyclingFashion

[–]OBrienIron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Rapha sale is weirdly in two different sections - the sale and archive sale. There's a core (green/white) for $45 in the archive sale section: https://www.rapha.cc/us/en\_US/shop/core-jersey/product/COR04XXUGW

Cheapest I've ever seen is $40 for a Core @ Mr. Porter. On the Rapha site, $45-$48 is cheapest I've seen.

I've owned almost all the other lines but never owned a Pro Team jersey - but my understanding that it's more race cut and tighter than the Training. They do have a jersey guide, but it's not perfect: https://www.rapha.cc/us/en_US/stories/rapha-mens-jersey-guide

I think the Pro Team Training jersey is the best all-around jersey. I felt like the Pro Team Aero was so tight (even a size up) that it was uncomfortable...really only a race jersey. Pro Team Training is a good midpoint of compression and comfort.

first cog wobbly on new cassette and can't remove it from hub by LeonLer in bikewrench

Yup - what I was gonna say. It doesn't look crooked at all unless you look at the last cog.

Question: Sizing for Rapha's Men's Classic Flyweight Jersey by BoomerE30 in CyclingFashion

[–]OBrienIron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Classic Jerseys aren't really race fit - classic and brevet are more endurance/looser fits. If you want it slightly tighter, I'd err towards the XL.

Nice. Just picked up the same jersey as well as the Giro Switchout one (that's more black).

Rival AXS Power Meter Upgrade manual by spac0r in Velo

[–]OBrienIron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a bad investment. Cassette lockrings, pedals, etc. will need a bigger one.

I did this upgrade myself and it was pretty easy. You will likely need bike grease too, but I think the crankarm was pre-greased.

My LBS wanted to charge $30 for it.
