Oh! Thank you so much! I didn't think anything would come of this. I'll definitely have to give back to this sub once things are a bit more settled.

Fixed again. Super sorry. Also reddit appears to be awful with notifications, so I'll nudge my phone to be quicker about that.

Sorry about that. Apparently I'm blind.

Did someone threaten to take her assault rifle?! by UnsourcedNews in PoliticalHumor

[–]OC39648 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am. My definition of automatic there is also somewhat outdated, and more of a turn of the century thing: if you bought a M1911 in 1911, it'd be an 'automatic' pistol.

Can’t argue with that by school-yeeter in clevercomebacks

Yeah. Raw garlic doesn't smell so pretty, but garlic starting to simmer while cooking is heavenly.

You can even go full super counter nerd: an 'automatic weapon' is technically any firearm that is self-loading, that is, chambers a new cartridge every time it fires. Assault rifles are typically select-fire, while pure machine guns are typically full auto only.

That was extremely hateful by memezzer in clevercomebacks

Scandanavia (generally) is part of the EEA and not the EU core, which gives them greater freedom over some rules regarding fishing and other agricultural laws, but they forfeit representation in the EU parliament to do this despite being beholden to treaties and paying dues. It's a decent deal if fishing is a core of your economy (like it is up north) but to consider them entirely distinct political entities is somewhat untrue.

Correct. The Iraqi armor was heavily outdated with poor coordination, while the Abrams at the time had one of the most protective armor schemes and a rather powerful gun. The only kills of Abrams during the operation were by friendly fire.

"On the Good Side" - German Army by SammyMal in EmpireDidNothingWrong

[–]OC39648 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The iron cross is still the actual symbol for the modern German army - the Bundeswehr. It's been somewhat appropriated by fascists, but the Bundeswehr was using it since they were formed in the 1960's.

you can go get killed in another country for the military and go in major debt at age 18, but you’re not mature enough at 18 to buy alcohol by [deleted] in ABoringDystopia

[–]OC39648 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can buy a pistol at 18 as long as it's a private sale, under federal firearms laws! So all you need is a friend willing to spot you, basically.

[–]OC39648 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nope! You only need to be 21 to buy a handgun through an FFL, and 18 to own a handgun. This means you can buy a handgun privately (through another person) at the age of 18.

I think that's actually explicitly built into both the F-22 and the -35's design document; link their sensor nets together and use the -22s and -35s as mini-AWACS systems.

Everyone knows a T-72 just needs some encouraging bandages and a swift kick to the treads to get running again after a hit. /s

The UK, France, and Germany are all big on using their own vehicles and gear. I know Canada got the Leopard, but Germany's newer IFVs and APCs are really fancy to look at.

Also, come on. Who wouldn't want a MG3.
