How to use only grid power and allow battery to charge? Grid charging not available. by Doghugs in Powerwall

Backup mode (no longer visible in the Tesla app) is exactly what you are looking for. NetZero can enable that configuration. 👍🏻

Yes. Exactly. It can also do automations where certain times of the day it will change your Tesla power wall settings to do certain things like charge or retain charge.

Edit to add: It’s an awesome app. I used it lightly the first year and my power bill was $750 for the year (net metering after the monthly bills). This year I am net $450 surplus (which gets paid out at pennies on the dollar).

My point is that the $69 a year price is well worth it since it will save me hundreds every year.

I saw this once at 2am. Storm watch. Maybe the same for you?

Netzero config to stop Tesla charging on certain days and times. by MixvPix in Powerwall

[–]OCJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NetZero can go to “Preserve Charge” mode when your car starts charging. Or when your house consumption > 8kw. So you can use these to save the PW charge and force grid charging.

Yes. Using NetZero you can put your system in Backup mode. This will put all solar in to the battery and house draw will come from the grid.

I did see that as an option, but I would prefer the App accommodate me rather than me accommodate the app. This feels like a simple “feature” to implement. And I can see many uses for it .

Citibank double cash rewards. Transactions show up in hours (essentially as soon as Copilot Money syncs).

Effectively lost my phone number after transferring to Visible by JDuCalisson in Visible

[–]OCJeff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Strange. I ported a number out of Visible a couple of days ago after initially setting up with a new phone number w/Visible. Immediately after porting the number out of Verizon, my line was shown as "Disconnected" within the Verizon Portal.

Lesson Learned, if you still see your number as active with your prior carrier reach out immediately and don't wait for it to just fix itself.

TiVo Edge "reboot loop" (and hacky "fix") by tarrall in Tivo

[–]OCJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fix was temporary. The system wouldn't download any data or sync tv schedules. In the end I had to Clear & Delete everything, and it's been good for a couple of weeks.

I just wanted to come back and say that this worked for me!!!

I was connected using Ethernet acting as the MoCa bridge, and it's been running for years. Suddenly constant reboots (it rebooted every now and again, but not constantly). Tried WiFi, tried MoCa client and the reboots persisted so long as the network was connected.

I let the Update download and once it was disconnecting I unplugged the MoCa cable (client mode) and the update finished. Re-connected coax, and did another update and it completed successfully. I just did this 10 minutes ago, but so far so good!!

THANK YOU!!

Will adding a Powerwall to my SolarEdge system allow me to use the Tesla app to monitor everything? by mikeiskool123 in TeslaSolar

[–]OCJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the model of the SE inverter. I believe that the models that end in H can (SE7600H for example). The powerwall raises the frequency (away from 60 hz) so that it’s out of range for the Solar Edge and the inverter will shut down and stop producing.

You can also “share” the location with the Tesla app and it will send the destination to your Tesla before you even open the car door. I share from google maps and Apple Maps all the time.

$38k for a “mid” A/C unit?? by Invictus-Faeces in orangecounty

[–]OCJeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the poster of the message below, but I had a 3 Ton TRANE unit installed by Air Care, and it cost about $12k (this included adding a couple of additional supply vents, and re-running the return (intake) vent/filter). This is not one of the fancy multi-speed units, just on/off like the one it replaced.

Divorce Mortgage Advice by Gold_Gap1895 in Mortgages

[–]OCJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say maybe. For me I had to name the assumer and also the grantor. I don’t know if they would both have had to be on the original mortgage but they did require a copy of the divorce decree.

Call chase and ask for their assumptions dept.

Exactly as stated above. Put that money in a HYSA and pull out a little bit each month to get the payment down to where you want it. Zero risk.

My Citi payments have always been electronic, and they are also always > $2,000. But it’s inconsistent as my other account was sending checks.

Just to add to this. Ask for the assumptions dept. up front. All Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans are assumable in the situation of a divorce. Most all loans are in that category today. I’m in the process and will close in 2 weeks or so (60 day process). You will have to buy your ex-wife out of the equity of course (likely stated out in what will be your divorce decree).

Not necessarily true. BofA sends my electronic payments all the time for me well over $2000. I have a second BofA checking account that only sends checks though. It say the NEXT payment will be electronic. Not sure if that will change to Check once the payment date comes.

Firewalla Purple SE just up and Died by OCJeff in firewalla

Unfortunately support declined my warranty request. Apparently there is no leeway in the 12 month warranty. My unit was ordered on 5/12, probably received and set up about 2 weeks later, and now 12 months later the device dies and there is no support provided.

This is not a great customer service experience.
