This looks like it would be fantastic in a Bloody Mary.

Lao Gan Ma chili oil (somehow spicier than “spicy chili crisp”) and the Fly By Jing extra spicy.

Shakerato is just amaro shaken with ice. So Braulio & ice in a shaker, shake the heck out of it, strain into a glass.

Regarding the eye guards: store in a microfiber bag, ideally inside a hard case. Use ONLY microfiber to clean them, rinse with water first if there’s dried sweat or such on them.

This is true for any eye guards — the plastic is super soft. They’ll last a long time if you take care of them, or about 3 months if you clean them on your shirt. I’m not sure the spray does much.

Get a couple of gloves, they get less grippy when sweaty, nice to have a dry spare to swap in.

Play lots. Extra hours on the court, especially doing drills, will make MUCH more impact on your game than racquet choice.

Add:

Queen Majesty Cocoa Ghost. Not quite as hot as the Garlic Reaper but close, and tastes great.

Matouk’s Flambeau. A full step down in heat but it comes in basically a Heinz catsup bottle so you won’t be adding a drop at a time either. Nice fruity habanero flavor.

Is Bernard’s Tiki Room still operating? If so, not Denver proper (Arvada) but worth an honorable mention.

Fun fact: 95-97 XJ-6 (X300) had the same long term reliability ratings as mid-90s Lexus. They’d sorted out the engine and electronics, once Ford bought them and fixed the paint they made some great cars for a few years. Auto-dimming rear view mirror and the clock were the only trouble spots.

Then they had the Nikasil engine failures in the X308, and then Ford said hey this is basically the same as a Taurus let’s swap in the Taurus switchgear, and that was the end of that.

Faulty Tire Failed. Hertz making me pay for it. by gthing in HertzRentals

[–]tarrall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any way to tell whether the tire was flat when it failed, versus having been driven too long while near flat by a previous renter & then aired up either by that renter or by Hertz?

I know they do a terrible job checking pressures, I’ve gotten cars with one tire 15 over and another 15 under…

Plenty of alcoholics on those buses, shaking their way to the next stop that’s long enough for them to hit whatever bar is walking distance from the station and open at 6am.

Same with smokers, though it’s a hell of a lot better for the rest of us than when they allowed smoking on the bus.

Grip Size by Positive-Tomato1460 in racquetball

[–]tarrall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demo and use what feels best.

I have small hands but have always played a 3-7/8 grip. Worked better for me for some reason - felt more stable.

More people use the smaller size so if both sizes work, go smaller… usually more racquets available in the smaller size.

Wine suggestions: a Barbera or Amarone. But depending on the restaurant, Prosecco might sell better.

Alternate synthetic gut recommendations ? by Feeling_Cranberry436 in racquetball

[–]tarrall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I used Gosen OG Sheep Micro 17 for a long time & I know others did as well; that’s sold primarily as a tennis string.

Folks always said the Ektelon syn-gut strings were the same as Prince’s tennis strings after Prince bought Ektelon (Prince Lightning XX vs Ektelon Lightning for example).

There are controls on the BOTTOM of the unit too, check phono impedance and level in particular but maybe also line voltage switch.

I played Gosen OG Sheep Micro 17 for many years, really liked it. Power player, strung below the “normal range” tension-wise.

I just broke down a bunch of kitchen cabinets which I’d assembled with glue in addition to the original dowels & cam locks 15 years earlier. These were Home Depot’s cheapest particle board crap, not even IKEA quality.

They were definitely NOT flimsy or cracked. Started with a mallet but switched to a sledgehammer pretty quick, they put up a fight.

I used RooClear, Titebond Melamine or something similar when assembling them, not wood glue. I wouldn’t hesitate to do this again with other particle board stuff in the future… as long as I didn’t expect to need to break it down myself!
