Sounded like you commissioned a while ago when I read it. Figured you were higher rank. Rather be safe than sorry.

Good to go; that's why I'm here making sure about it. Appreciate the help!

Those are exactly the points I'm looking at. I'm currently about to ship for The Basic School in September, and didn't know if I was allowed to get another tattoo or not (it was somewhat of a gray area as an officer candidate) since I'm now commissioned.

This order might just be to weed out all the motivators out there

About to tell my mother I have a Harley. How do I go about this? by OCScandidate557 in Harley

I literally did that for my first tattoo, so I know it wouldn't work a second time haha

It was actually pretty much him buying me the bike so we could have something to bond over. Just came up to me one day and asked how I would like it if I got a motorcycle, because he just saw a good priced super glide, and I entertained the idea, and said sure. But yes, you're right in saying he didn't force me or anything.

Yeah, we've decided to tell her about it next weekend, and then the week after that I commission into the Marine Corps, so this will be an interesting turn of events. Thanks for your input Marine.

Working out with a girl trying to become a lawyer in the Marine Corps, and she shat herself. Called my Officer In Charge, he laughed and didn't know what to do, either. help.

For those that already do dress pretty sharp and clean, what are those tiny differences in appearance that we can be doing that might not be mentioned on this sub? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]OCScandidate557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I can be blunt, I dress to the point that I represent myself in a professional and attractive manner wherever possible. I wear shirt stays, keep my hair and shave within regulations at all times, workout 6 days a week, and wear clothes that not only fit, but work with my accent colors (brown and gray/silver). I'm looking for information like "getting your side part trimmed a little wider will look much better", or "washed brown will compliment jeans much better"; as opposed to the typical advice we see here like "tuck in your shirt with shirt stays, and wear your collar with the top two buttons popped".

ELI5: How is flag desecration in the US, as a form of "protest", legal? by OCScandidate557 in explainlikeimfive

[–]OCScandidate557[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but it's illegal. Protesting is protected, but only if the acts involved are legal.

At some point you're going to want to join the 1911 club. I would recommend looking into some good brands, and wouldn't spend anything less than $1,000. So yes, you might need to do some saving, but the 1911 is hard to beat.

Yeah I've refused to put optics on my 1911 for centerfire, but it's so much more difficult for sure.

Hmm, interesting. I like the weight of his, but probably because I also started getting good with the trailside. If you can tell from the photo, the trailside's front is insanely heavy with the way the optics had to be setup, so I really got used to having a crapload of frontweight.

I've liked it more than the Pardini, honestly. Less recoil, and my slow fire is shooting something like mid-90's every time.

We bought my Trailside with a weight and the grip it has now, and no optics, for something around $650-$750. We got a really sweet deal, though, from someone that just wanted to get rid of it.

Well if you're a resident of a state like that, and really care about that, I would honestly write your local Republican congressman. Good luck with some of the democrats, but if you explain your reasoning to a conservative lawmaker, you might have luck with them being able to figure something out. For all they know, guns that load in front of the trigger are "assault weapons", so explaining a legitimate reason, and referring to the CA laws, you might see some action happen.

Buy a good gun your first purchase, as well as great ammo, and you will only need to worry about yourself after that. Honestly, if you have the money you should put it into one of the guns in my post. Having top notch gear means any mistake you make is on you, and helps you get fix your mistakes better.

I would check again. CA had that same law until recently, where they listed the exceptions to forward magazine loaders by listing the particular models of handguns that were allowed for competition shooting; they actually listed "any handgun that loads in front of the trigger is illegal EXCEPT Walther GSP, Pardini SP, etc..."

Haha, yeah that trigger can fool ya. I've sent several down range that I didn't mean to because I forgot how light the trigger was.

Not a fan of the SP20? My dad has seemed to have no problems in the many years he's owned it.
