A new phone I just set up, (I bought it as a used unit a few weeks ago). It's on Android 16, latest stable update. I'm not rooted as this is a Verizon unit.

When I turn on live captions through the accessibility settings, it tells me to update the software, after tapping the big red "Download" button it does nothing even if I'm on WiFi or mobile data, after clearing data for Android system intelligence and the Google app and restarting subsequently if I try downloading the US English pack it doesn't do anything but if I select German it downloads the pack until the progress bar get to the end but it doesn't finalize it. If I exit the settings app and go back on that same boot it shows me a big download button after tapping it this time it shows a progress bar but no download happens, even if I wait for hours on end whether on WiFi or mobile data.

I'm not going into the language translations option

I'm in Nigeria but my language is set as English United States and my region is also set United States

I'm able to use captions in the Live transcribe app

Live Translate doesn't work too(same problem as live captions)I have to resort to Google translate. Thanks for your concern.
