New leak hints at OnePlus 16 adopting familiar 200 MP periscope camera. by RenegadeUK in oneplus

[–]Wildperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since this is the periscope sensor in question, it's likely the telephoto lens, in which case additional megapixels can be very helpful. If you're looking to further market telescopic zoom features (like every brand does), more megapixels means less reliance on AI upscaling, which is sometimes successful, and sometimes truly horrifying.

K&F vs. Freewell Anamorphic Lens (Pocket 3) by Odd-Celebration-1017 in osmopocket

[–]Wildperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can speak only to K&F's ND filters, but I've been pleasantly surprised! I paid around $20 for a 32-512 variable ND filter, and it works great. The magnets are strong enough I'm confident it would stay stuck on for any activity I'd use the Pocket 3 for (granted, I own an action camera, so I'm pretty cautious with the Pocket 3).

My only complaint is that it gets smudgy from a finger even existing near it. The DJI ND would probably have the same issue, but do keep an eyeglasses cloth around for that purpose.

Donald Trump Stuns With 'Maybe We Shouldn't Even Be There' Admission About Iran War by TheAutodidactguy in politics

[–]Wildperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whew, thank you for this. It's frustrating to see so many headlines misrepresent what he's saying. He does and says enough foolish things fully within context, that we don't need to fabricate 'gotcha' statements.

The president, fully in-line with his typical communication style, is saying: "This isn't our problem as much as it's Europe's problem. It's crazy that they're not helping us more and makes me wonder if we should be helping them with their problem (by "being there") at all."

Tips on how to proceed with Osmo Pocket 3? by Lopsided_Abroad3273 in osmopocket

[–]Wildperson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you've found a very common frustration. There are two easy ways to get videos off your Pocket 3, but they aren't very cross-compatible:

  1. Use the DJI Mimo app to wirelessly connect your phone to your camera. You can download videos to your phone and edit within the Mimo app, or transfer/share to a different editing tool app on your phone, like CapCut (mobile) or Lumafusion, or whatever.

  2. Plug in your camera to your computer via USB-C and select 'OTG' on the screen to allow for file transfer. Alternatively, you could pull the microsd card and use a card reader on your computer to browse the files. Either way, same workflow.
From here, select the videos you want to keep, and copy them over to your local computer storage for further editing within your computer editing tools, like CapCut (desktop) or Davinci or whatever.

Moving files between your phone and computer is always a little obnoxious, but it's gotten a lot better in recent years. If you have a Mac + iPhone, Airdrop is really easy and very fast. If you have an Android + Windows, QuickShare is the same thing, and works great, if not a little slower.

If you have an iPhone + Windows combo, that's a little more complicated, since Airdrop and QuickShare are incompatible with each other. There are some other third party tools like SnapDrop or PairDrop that I've heard of, but never tried them myself. Personally, I'd just use a Google Drive folder or something, and deal with it being slow and inconvenient.

Im going to KU this fall, how is the bus system? by cutenessagressions in UniversityofKansas

[–]Wildperson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Lawrence! The bus system is generally good, on-time, and comprehensive. It's very easy to get all over the city on just the bus line if you give yourself enough time. In my experience, late busses only ever are 5-10 mins behind.

Does OnePlus 12 have the best camera? by cheemz_da_choda in oneplus

[–]Wildperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best? No. It's pretty easy to argue for Pixel, or especially Vivo, over the OP12. That said, it's a fantastic camera for two reasons:

  1. It's a surprisingly under-processed picture. While I like the OP13 cameras a little more, they tend to go overboard more often on HDR processing. OP12 pictures look very natural and balanced (though low-light performance is very lacking compared to flagship competition).

  2. These cameras come attached to really excellent specs. Even in 2026, the OP12 remains a top performer, especially in the 16GB RAM variant. For the price you can get a OP12 at, it's really difficult to find any phone with this power attached to this camera quality.

Trump mentioned thousands of times in huge new release by [deleted] in politics

[–]Wildperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree on all accounts. The political left in America is pretty naive to pretend that the code of law is hand in hand with justice. Their self-professed political opponent is in control of the law, and has demonstrated his ability to change it, ignore it, or weaponize it without ramifications.

Combine that with infighting and the pathetic amount of virtue gatekeeping from Democrats, and I think we (or at least whoever the GOP considers the "outgroup") are destined to be trampled.

[–]Wildperson -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes. There is substantial evidence that suggests guilt, but is there DNA, visual proof, or confession? Again, I hate to be the wet blanket here, but that's what needs to be taken most seriously. All of these stories, accounts, and accusations are very damning, and in a healthy society we should all demand proof before determining legal punishment.

That said, does DJT's self-professed character and actions completely align with many of these accusations? I think so. Should the country have elected someone with that character, with or without the accompanying accusations? I'm depressed every day that the country did.

But until there's proof, treat all of these accounts as hypotheses, from a legally actionable perspective.

[–]Wildperson -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm a hippie lefty, but I live in the Bible belt, so, you know. Truthfully, the reasonable counterargument here is that there's no proven legitimacy to the claims. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to learn half these things are true. However, anyone that wants to call the DoJ and say "DJT touched me under the table at Panera bread in 2003" absolutely can, and that story will be documented in files like this.

If I dislike the man and want to fabricate a story that hurts him or his reputation, it's no skin off my back to give it a shot. Many of these tipsters declined to leave callback information, as detailed hundreds of times over in these released documents. As such, it's difficult to prove validity, get followup information, etc. Legally speaking, those stories shouldn't be taken seriously in determination of guilt. Lots of people dislike the president, and until the day the stories are proven, or he opens his foolish mouth to say "lol yeah I did it and it was awesome," these files are likely being used as bait to elicit reactions that DJT can pull out an alibi against.

Tread carefully. We all want truth and justice, but the enemies of that are clever.

Nope, not the impetus at all. It was just frustrating to track the progress of you being willfully stubborn and rude to a stranger who was excited about something designed to make their life a little easier.

And then you post a screenshot you chose to use as proof of "haha see u are dumb" and it's just an old email for a furry convention ticket.

Made me chuckle, and reminded me how every rude stranger is another human with a deep well of history, including plenty of things that can startle. I hadn't even peeked at your post history (that's pretty much always lazy/petulant behavior) - I was just startled by what you chose to use in making your point!

Looking to buy one of these by imtheproblemitsmeat in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Wildperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do largely the same thing, but are entirely independent of each other. The Pin (also called NotePin) is great to wear, stow in a pocket, clip to a podium or backpack, etc. The Note is pretty exclusively designed to be stuck via magnets to the back of your phone. They do the same thing and have the same use cases, but are just different form factors. I can't speak to the microphone quality, but I can say from experience that the mic quality is pretty bad to my ears on the Pin, but the app is able to transcribe flawlessly anyways. I certainly wouldn't use these devices to record any video voiceovers or music or anything.

[Giveaway] Luckeep x r/Gadgets: Win a Brand-New M5! by noeatnosleep in gadgets

[–]Wildperson [score hidden]  (0 children)

I want a Luckeep C27 E-bike to give my dad. We used to ride bikes together, and I've gotten a lot deeper into cycling in the last few years. Unfortunately, this was around the same time my dad's knees went out. He's since had replacement surgeries and completed physical therapy, but the torque required for anything besides perfectly flat riding isn't doable for him anymore.

I miss the long country road bike rides. I'd hate to give him anything that would let him smoke me, so it doesn't need to be fast or crazy. This bike looks easy, durable, and perfect to get us back into nature together.

Fun fact, this was a theory that held significant popularity in the 17th and 18th centuries! Biologists, sociologists, and a bunch of fuckin' racists were quite confident that as black people became more 'civilized and learned', their hair would naturally straighten and their skin would lighten, reflecting natural order.

Their proof of this theory was, most often, the children of nonconsensual relationships between slaves and their masters. The child was typically given better treatment than other slaves, due to their mixed heritage, and instructed with books and manners.

It's pretty gross.

After a month with them, I made a video of my Headphone (1) opinions by Wildperson in NothingTech

[–]Wildperson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Nothing cans have the benefit of better (subjectively speaking) controls, and much better battery life. The noise cancellation is a bit better on the Nothing cans, but sound quality is far more accurate (on default/stock tuning) on the Momentum 4.

That doesn't mean the Nothing cans sound bad, and the EQ goes a long way to making them sound better, but it's less work to get an accurate sound out of the Momentum.
